So my friends and I watched the simpson's last night. Before it started there was a warning. We can't decide if it was a joke or not. Does anyone know?

The warning said something like parental warning, this episode contains issues dealing with same-sex marriage. Or something like that.

The show did indeed involve issues pertaining to same-sex marriage, so it probably wasn't a joke.

Simpsons now sucks so much ass that I have no trouble believing it wasn't a joke.

Well two of the guys in our group thought perhaps the warning was making fun of all the warnings people have to put up. It seems like an odd warning. I used to seeing this show may discuss adult themes or something like that. This warning was really specialized.

*shrug* I thought the show was one of the better new ones. Or, at least I giggled more than usual.

For the FOX network, it was probably quite serious: what with the deluge of organised hatemail likely to pour into the newly activist FederalCommunicationsCommission.

For the Simpsons, probably more like accepted cuz "its a funny lead-in for our show." When you're a billion-dollar franchise for stepping on people's foibles, ya don't really worry about the FTC. If FOX network decided to cancel out their contract, it'd just start a major bidding war by the other networks and cable&satellite channels.

This thread title got my hopes up. [Frown]

Why did it get your hopes up?

Because of the punctuation. I thought it was about The Simpsons' last night on television.

That episode was pretty good, better than most of the later season Simpson's episodes.
Yet, it annoys me when they have that parental discretion disclaimer anytime there's a gay theme.
Still, it was cool when Patty came out and all. It could have been better though.

Adam and Steve and Madam and Eve need marriage, anyways. Does them good.

Did anyone think that Simpsons episode was unusually bad?

Nope.

I missed it. I, like, forgot it was Sunday last night.

Was there an Arrested Development on?

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

No, two episodes of the Simpsons instead. Next Sunday will be an hour long episode of Arrested Development.

No one seems to have considered that parental warnings are as much used to get viewers to perk up their ears as to warn parents of questionable content.
