OK, so our set caught on fire today.

I'm doing Shakespeare's Pericles for my college, and today at 3pm a set piece went up in flames. The rest of the set is soaked or has smoke damage...including all the lights, lighting and sound equipment. We're scheduled to open on Thursday.

So...yeah...I just had to write that down.

That's not good . . . not good at all.

It does make a nice topic for a post # 1000, though.

Hope it all turns out well.

Yes, thank God, everyone is fine. Physically, anyway.

One of the techies was welding, and he's both very experienced and professional. But a spark got out and hit this big scaffolding that was covered in erosion cloth (He was 15-20 feet away.) Apparently someone forgot to fire proof it, because it went right up.

But most of the problem now is water (which is slightly ironic if you know "Pericles" at all). We have about 6 inches standing water in our orchestra pit.

That's terrible! But I'm glad everyone is okay.

Break a leg (and hopefully no more of the set)

thats crazy. It sucks that there was damage, but at least everyone was OK.

I hope everything works out OK for your opening.

Well, if the water doesn't get cleared up in time, at least there will be realism in the show.

Today we're going to go and see what we can salvage. Hopefully it'll all work out. Wish us luck.
