Hopefully if you're reading this you like the New England Partiots- (I can't help but like them, my cousin plays for their team!) Anyhow, if you're going to watch it, look out for #61, Stephen Neal- he went from being the world wrestling champion to an NFL player. (I know it sounds like I'm bragging about him but that's what you do when you admire someone, especially a family member. Just out of curiosity, are there more Eagles or Patriots fans out there? (I don't get all flustered at people who like different teams, it seems most women don't have enough testosterone to get mad at that!)

Go Pats!

I despise all teams that play in the Boston area, but welcome to Hatrack just the same! [Wave]

What an odd topic to make a first post about! What made you discover Hatrack? Was it Orson Scott Card, or does a friend of yours post here?

Anyway, hope you enjoy your time here as much as I do. [Smile]

Icarus, stop being a big old Yankee baby. Your dynasty is done, caput, fini, while ours is beginning. This is the way of the world.

Ans welcome Salah!

Uh yeah... go Pats!

Says the husband of a Pats fan and knows where his loyalties lie.

Go Eagles!

I'll watch out for your family member though, it's always cool to know someone that knows someone playing in the big game or even just playing on tv. Makes the athletes seem more real. Like when the Titans were in the superbowl a couple years ago, one of the special teams players was from my hometown. Or just last week I saw a guy I sat next to in Spanish in high school on sportcenter's top ten plays(for college b-ball, but it was very cool and unexpected).

But anyway, I've been waiting my whole life for the Birds to make it to the big game! I used to go to their training camp back in the day. I got Randall Cunningham's autograph. And I had Ricky Waters' autograph too. I was also at the game when the Eagle's fans booed Michael Irvin's career ending injury. Gotta love those Philly fans(or hate them [Dont Know] ).

No city needs a championship more than Philly. The Philly fans are gonna start rioting if the Eagles and the other Philly teams keep coming up short every year.

Nathan has his first fencing class yesterday, actually.

Posted by Icarus (Member # 3162) on :

I bet the Philly fans will riot win or lose.

The Michael Irvin incident is the main reason I don't like the Eagles.

And yet I find myself forced to pull for them.

*sigh*

With you? [Razz]

lol, no. He's taking the beginner's class right now. But the coach said he'll be quick learner because he's so dedicated to catching up.

Ooooh... [Frown] You could have been like that immortals couple in "Highlander". There was an episode that started with a masked man entering a woman's bedroom and they began to fight... Well, at the end of the duel they literally kissed and made up! [Big Grin] Life can get boring when you live for a thousand years, so I guess they wanted to spice it up a little bit...

Edit: Maybe you'll get like that after a couple hundred years together... [Smile]

Article on Mr. Neal

quote:
Neal was a college championship wrestler at Cal State Bakersfield who didn't even play college football. He got a look because this wrestling coach knew that trainer who knew this coach who called -- get this -- Chuck Bednarik, who made a call who got somebody a tape. Asked this week to clarify exactly how he got here, Neal said, "I'm not exactly sure." He was signed by and waived by the Patriots in the summer of 2001, signed by the Patriots that December off of the Eagles' practice squad, placed on injured reserve in 2003 and is now a starter on the offensive line charged with protecting the Golden Boy, Tom Brady.
Very cool.

Salah, you have every right to brag about your cousin!! Thanks for telling us about it and welcome to the board!!

(go eagles! [Wink] )

Thanks for welcoming me!
I guess I decided on this topic because of the concept
American Culture = Football, considering culture is part of this forum- but actually I'm ordinarily not all that into sports, I'd rather watch a Blue Angels Air Show! That's awesome that one of the Hatrack members was able to get the facts on Stephen.

You don't know us very well, do you?! We can get the facts on anyone / anything!! [Wink]

I know that one...I'm just not telling you. [Big Grin]

Welcome to Hatrack, there are quite a few Pats fans here. I live in Western Mass, so my wife and I will be rooting for your family member all the way!

Go Pats!

You would be quick too if you settled your spats with fencing duels.

What, you didn't do the dishes tonight? On guard!

well, he is on the right team if he wants a ring [Smile]

Personally, I'm not a big pats fan...but I don't expect them to have any problems with the eagles.

Of course, I really dislike the eagles, so I'm not complaining.

You can't get the facts on me. I locked those in a file-cabinet, which was put in a submarine, which sunk in the middle of the Indian Ocean, and was eaten by a large fish. So you'll never get the facts on me!!! Unless I tell you.... [Evil Laugh]

[Evil Laugh] http://www.phillysucks.com [Evil Laugh]

I came across that when the Leafs played the Flyers in... what was it now? I don't remember. I have nothing against Philidelphia, or any of its teams (EXCEPT the flyers), but I just thought that it was a bit stupid (paying for a website that only counted the days, that is...)

My team will never be in a superbowl, so I may as well pick a new team. So I'll be a Patriots fan!

I'd hate to see a Chicago version of that website for baseball. We've had a pair of iconic teams in other sports for a bit, but nothing else. Technically, the city does suck, at least in this sense.

You never know. I spent years thinking that my bucs would never pull off a superbowl win...and they did it.

You should tease him next time you talk to him, he was the only one who showed no sign of life when they showed the five o-linemen.

Heff, I keep hoping that the Halas family will get their collective cranial-rectal inversion syndrome treated and find us some decent players... and I want to torture the creepazoid who designed that crashed flying saucer fiasco on the Lake.

Posted by Salah (Member # 7294) on :

Yeah!!! What a relief! There were a few tense moments during that game, but the patriots pulled it off! Now, I need to GO to Boston and watch my cousin Stephen actually play in a game. I haven't been so excited about something since I was sitting in the theater on opening day of Star Wars Episode II waiting for it to start- congrats also to my fellow Patriots fans...and Eagles fans, your team put up a good fight!

Posted by Heffaji (Member # 3669) on :

Agreed. The only time I've even set foot in that stadium was before it was remodeled and for an XFL game. Thankfully, the tickets were free for that debacle.

I spent years thinking my Eagles would win won... And they didn't. Oh well, next year! [Cry]

Not as bad as the 3 nfc championship losses, at least they played well tonight. Well, except for the turnovers and the clock management at the end.

It isn't like Sox fans EVER THOUGHT the sox would ACTUALLY WIN the World Series. [Wink]

Salah! GO WATCH A GAME! Can he get you tickets? Take advantage!

Posted by Goody Scrivener (Member # 6742) on :

Heff, I got to go once before the remodel. My boss is a season ticket holder and he'd given me tickets to the Jacksonville game that was scheduled to be played the weekend after 9/11... the week that every game was booted to the end of the season. So instead of spending a nice fall afternoon on the 20 yard line, I froze my butt off New Year's weekend instead. LOL

I've also been there once since. I do have to admit that the seats are MUCH more comfortable, they're wider, and they have big cup holders. The bathrooms are improved and plentiful, and the mezzanine decor is very pleasing. But I still say it looks like a pair of flying saucers crashed into each other and landed right in the middle of the Coliseum. I'll never figure out WHAT that guy was thinking!!!
