ok. the first time i saw this movie in it's entirety was the TBS cable version. Edited language, etc. Yes, it can be argued that something is missing in a censored piece of work, but i disagree in this instance. Yes, i prefer the dialogue to remain untainted, BUT there was a scene in this version that i have never seen anywhere else. It was the hallway scene when they are running away from Dick. It was an extended version of this scene. They pass by the teachers lounge and Dick is fighting with the vending machine because it ate his change or something. Ally Sheedy slows to a crawl as she passes the door and then just stops in the doorway watching him. All of the other students are scared and fear that they will get caught. Somebody (cannot remember who) asks "what the hell is she doing?" to which Molly Ringwald responds "i don't know but she's so cool" and it totally rocked my face off!
is anybody else familiar with this scene or cut? when it was announced a new Breakfast Club DVD was gonna be released last year i got my hopes up only to have them dashed when i realized it was just a new audio transfer...sigh.... i want my lost scene or at least somebody to confirm i am not crazy.

Could you elaborate on why that rocks your face off? Maybe it was the Emilio Estevez character. I'm only visuallizing when they are crawling on the dropped ceiling and someone falls through an acoustic board.

it rocks my face off because it allowed you to see Ally Sheedy was more than just this shy quiet girl. it showed she had balls.

hmm. Honestly, I've seen the movie sooo many times and in so many different contexts, I couldn't even tell you. Yes, I've certainly seen a variety of TV edits...but that's not the only place that I've seen it, and I didn't keep track as to whether that scene was in each one. (You can bet your bottom dollar that I will NOW, though! )

Ben, we have the movie on VHS and I'm pretty sure the scene you described is on it. Maybe I'll pull it out this weekend and check.

which DVD do you have? the purple one? I have the purple one and it has hte hallway scene but not the "she's so cool" stop in front of the teachers lounge scene.

It's a white box with a silver CD. But I don't know anything more than that off-hand.
