We need to find roomies and stuff, and make reservations in the next two weeks or so.

Who wants to share with whom?

I think we had a two couple room with Wench Ophelia, Wench Vana and their men.

I suggested putting Frisco in Katharina's room, but that was met with a lukewarm [Razz] reception.

Everybody wants Jenny Gardener, so she may room-hop to satify her fans . [Wink]

Ela and JaneX have either one or two slots open in their room.

Who else? Any other definites?

What innuendo would that be? I assume any prank you would be doing is more than putting his hand in warm water. ;)

The Wingate Inn, just off Barrett Parkway (behind Costco and U.S. Play) as soon as you can. We're doing an all-nighter with the movies, probably Friday, though I hope to have some meet and greet stuff well before that.

Anybody got Apples to Apples? That was a blast...

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

Hrm. Maybe I should arrange to room with someone for the all-nighter then, just in case?

Posted by ElJay (Member # 6358) on :

*sigh* I was kinda hoping as we got closer that there might be better fares. The cheapest right now is $273, which is still not something I'm going to be able to do.

[Frown] I wish you could come, ElJay.

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Same here, ElJay. I'm still watching for something that's going to cost me less than $400.

Posted by ElJay (Member # 6358) on :

*shrug* I'll keep checking. But it would have to be pretty cheap. Or I'd have to have my 2004 review and find out I'm getting one heck of a raise.

ElJay,

How about taking a day or two off work and road-tripping? If you can get to Indiana, I think we can work something out....

Posted by ElJay (Member # 6358) on :

I thought about that, Jenny, but I'm already taking a lot of time off the first six months of the year, and I'm just not sure I can do more.

I'll just have to plan on it for next year, if the Atlantians are gracious enough to throw a WenchCon IV.

(Added: But I'll find somewhere to wear boots that weekend in your honor.)

Okay, I need to know when to come in.

I have a conference in Las Vegas that week, and that ends at 2:00 or so on Thursday. If I wasn't going to Atlanta, I'd come home that night. Do I come to Atlanta then, or come Friday morning/afternoon? Is anyone going to be in Atlanta on Thursday?

Okay, that's fine! Thank you, I appreciate it. [Smile]

I think JaneX's flight is getting in from New England (Hartford, CT) around 4-ish or so - she will check and let you know the exact information.

JaneX and I do need at least one roommate (2 if JaneX's friend decides not to come).

Also, I am curious to know when people will be leaving - I reserved our room through Sunday night, cause we hated having to run out last year. But last year we met on a 3-day weekend - so what is everyone planning?

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

I'll be around as long as there are people. After the hatrackers take off, I'm going to stay with my parents for a few days, so I'll hang out with anyone who is still around.

Also...er...is there actually anyone interested in sharing a room (or letting me sleep on the floor or something) on Friday night, if it is indeed to be an all-nighter? I don't bite. I promise. [Big Grin]

Posted by Ela (Member # 1365) on :

The rooms are pretty big - if you bring a sleeping bag, I am sure there will be space to crash on someone's floor. [Smile]

Someone may even have a bed available...

We're getting a mega tax refund. (We e-filed for direct deposit yesterday.) As long as we don't get audited and therefore held up, it looks like I will probably be able to go. (I feel a little bad spending $400 on airfare and all when we have absolutely no wiggle room in our budget, but I'm putting it down to mental health, and my wonderful husband is agreeing.) I'm looking for someone to share with who doesn't mind a almost-1-year-old sleeping in their room, and is willing to flex a little around her needs (like being quiet coming in and out at night and stuff), preferably female. Anyone interested?

Also, can someone point me to an estimated cost, excluding airfare? For instance, room, food, activities, etc. I just need a ballpark figure here, but it will help me decide whether to go or not.

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

See, I would, but I can't REMEMBER. But I thought I'd let you know so you wouldn't think you're being ignored.

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Katie, I think it's cheaper for me to fly on Thurs. than Fri.; if you want to go Thurs. and don't mind Emma, I'll share a room with you.

That is, if anyone gives me an estimated cost, and it's do-able.

Thanks for not ignoring me, mac. [Wink]

Posted by Olivetta (Member # 6456) on :

Katie, you can sleep in my spare room that night. My sister will come in Friday evening and probably use it the rest of the weekend, but I could put you up in Casa de Fowler for that time, if you like.

The room costs are $69.00 per night, before room taxes. With taxes it comes to about $75.00 per night, with that being split by however many you can room with and I'm sure the baby is free. [Wink]

Thee is a free continental breakfast every day and moderately priced restaurants close by (walking distance). There is also a U.S. Play across the parking lot, so if you really want to hit that... well, you can drop a lot of money inn one of those game places pretty quickly. I've never been there, myself.

Dividing a room by 4 people would make it less than $25.00 a night. The meeting room for two days is $50.00 divided by however many people come... Less than $5.00 a person, surely. I could cancel the meeting room for the second day and we could overwhelm the lobby on Sunday, depending on how many people are leaving early on Sunday.

So, rooms/roomies:

Vana and Dan and Ophelia and Ben - One room

Ela, JaneX and one or two open slots- One room *open space, I assume female preferred?*

Frisco... obviously selling his body to cover cost of "private" room - appointment suggested

So, we have kq and infant, me Jenny G and Lady Jane who have not sorted ourselves out yet. My sister an neice may come, but may not stay at hotel. If they do, they'll probably want their own room (my sister turns into Queen Bitch of the Universe when she's tired, and wants to spare innocent bystanders).

Jamie and Nathan- ? maybe coming, don't know if they want t o share a room.

TMedina- you staying at the hotel or not?

Am I forgetting anybody?

We're coming, I believe. Well, I KNOW I am, but we're waiting on Nathan.

Posted by Olivetta (Member # 6456) on :

Oh, so Katie and Kq can probably work that oout fine, then. [Smile]

I mean, you could both stay in the spare room if you don't mind doubling up. We just gave away our crib, but I'm sure we could come up with something...

I'm only allowed to offer the spare room to femmes or people I know well, since the Internet is like a box of every flavor beans, and the hubby is cautious about who we let around our babies, you understand. [Smile]

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Olivia, that would be wonderful. Flying on Thursday will save me $50 that can go toward a hotel room or something. I can cut that cost even more if Emma doesn't have a seat on the plane; I'll have to work out how I feel about that. So it looks like I'll get to go. We have a playpen/portacrib that I'm planning on bringing with us, so don't worry about where Ems will sleep. Yay! I'm going to WenchCon! *begins to plan costume for after she finishes Katie's*

I'll buy the tickets when we get our refund (probably the 15th or earlier).

But I griped to Ben about it on IM and he jokinggly offered to beat the guy up, pointing out that we could pretend we didn't know Ben, that he just randomly invaded our house and smacked the guy.

It was a joke.

Now that I think of it, kQ has a baby, which opens certain possibilities in giving-away-stuff area.

Hmmmm...

Think you could use a package of unused swim diapers? Plus, somehow when my youngest was four, I ended up on a marketing list of 'new moms' so I keep getting sample diapers and such in the mail. Also have some shoes and such that might work for girls and lots of gently used socks and such for wee feet.

I won't load you down, but I may have some stuff for you to look at before I donate it. [Smile]

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Actually, we would love that. She's oddly shaped for a wee one, so the only diapers that fit right now (that we've found, anyway) are Luvs, usually one size bigger than what she should really be in. (We can't even use cloth diapers! [Eek!] ) She loves to swim, so we can always use swim diapers. And socks are wonderful. [Smile] Hand-me-downs are our favorite. So, I'd love to look at things before you get rid of them, as long as it's not a waterbed or a trampoline or something. [Wink]

Posted by Ela (Member # 1365) on :

Hmm, I have LOTS of kids clothes I am looking to get rid of - what size are we talking here?

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

She's currently in 12 mo. clothes, moving into 18 mo. clothes, and I don't mind dressing her in boy clothes one bit. [Smile]

BTW, does anyone want a free LeapPad and a Dr. Seuss (I forget which one) cartridge and a Where the Wild Things Are cartridge? My sister got them for Emma for Christmas, and I've been going back and forth; I don't like them, but it was a gift from my sister. I've decided I don't want her to have them, but I'd rather pass them on to a friend who wants them. They're brand new, unopened.

Posted by Ben (Member # 6117) on :

as a matter of fact, my neice would absolutely ADORE them.

Also, I may not be able to stay at the hotel, or I may have my kids with me. My beloved may be out of town for training that weekend. Not certain yet, and it was unexpected when I planned this, but no way will their grandmother take them overnight. So, I may be on Hobbit watching duty. Still should be around for some of the fun, just wanted to remind people to keep it fairly family friendly. [Smile]

Posted by Lady Jane (Member # 7249) on :

I am not reserving a room. I am sure I can be sorted somewhere, probably with Frisco or KQ if she gets a separate room. I still need to figure out if I will be in Vegas or Atlanta on Thursday night, and I'll do that this afternoon, along with getting the ticket to Atlanta. It's kind of a pain because I need to discuss things with the travel department. If I stay in Vegas, work will pay for my hotel room that night, but that depends on how tickets and what's cheaper for them and for me and oh, just everything. Sorry for not being more definite here. I'll talk to people today.

But yes, anyway, I don't need my own room.

Question: Is there going to be a "GUYS Room" this year?

My sister has this friend who does costuming and also works as a dealer for some costume-realated stuff(as well as swords, etc.) who wants to come to this thing. He's really nice and very funny (How could a guy who has made entire sets of chain mail out of wire coat hangers NOT be funny?) but he would like a a guy or two to share a room with. Any possible takers? Frisco, are you really all about the WenchLove, or would you mind roomsharing with a stranger?

I know there will be plenty of room for the stray femmes without reservations, but I wasn't sure about the guys.

And how do you guys feel about having a dealer table? I'm sure it'll be RenFaire/costuming stuff that will be very neat.

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is only about three miles from the hotel, I drove by there the other day. I haven't been there in a few years, but it's a pretty standard national park. Plus cannons and Civil War stuff. It might be good for forest backgrounds for fotos, w/or w/out cannons. Also there are hiking trails.

Keep in mind that JaneX and I can't go anywhere from sundown Friday night till it's dark Saturday night unless we can walk there. [Smile]

Which reminds me, Olivia, are we making some kind of in-house food plans for Saturday lunch, like we did last year?

Posted by Olivetta (Member # 6456) on :

I was going to order something for just you guys and me, and let everyone else order pizza or whatever. Catering for it last year took years off my life. *sigh*

I was going to ask you about gellatin. I know Jell-O is animal derived, but is there kosher gellatin or a brand of vegetarian gellatin you could point me to? I was going to try my hand at making a dessert for everybody. Could you eat it even if my kitchen isn't kosher, as long as nothing comes in contact with meat? Also, the recipe involves cream, does dairy have to be kosher? I forget.

For lunch I was going to go with some vegetarian wraps from this place I know. If everybody would be cool with me ordering for everyone, we can do it that way. The wraps are about $3.00 and you can get them with chicken, too.

Thing is, even when I did the full catering thing last year, with $100.00 worth of lasagna and I dunno how much of my own time and effort, some people still ordered pizza.

I will definitely have stuff there, and I WILL make Certain that Ela and JaneX are well-fed [Wink] because of their special dietary restrictions. Everyone else can pitch in for wraps, order pizza or whatever.

The plan is to do lunch at the hotel by delivery or hit fast food, then go out as a group Saturday after sunset.

Is that cool?

The plans sound cool, Olivia. [Smile]

I don't want you to go to any unneccessary trouble over the food, so let's just do what is easiest.

Kosher gelatin can probably be found in the kosher food section of your grocery store. You might also find it in a healthfood/organic foods store. It would definitely be available in a kosher foods store, if you have one in your area. If all else fails, I could send you some. [Smile]

Dairy doesn't have as strict requirements as meat - JaneX and I will eat any dairy product, as long as it doesn't contain gelatin or other meat products.

Posted by Olivetta (Member # 6456) on :

What I'm thinking of is a sort of raspberry-cream sort of mousse-y thing that is prepared in a spring form pan. The gellatin just sort of gives it shape. I'm SURE I can get some kosher gellatin. I'll call around.

Okay, so anybody have a birthday around that weekend?

Posted by Olivetta (Member # 6456) on :

Son the cream with the gellatin is a no-go, unless I can find some vegan gellatin. Vegan gellatin would be okay?

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Good luck on that; I was researching for another thread, and I found that some students did develop a vegan, soy-based gelatin product, but it's not been picked up by a company yet, as far as I can tell. Googling "vegan gelatin" or "soy gelatin" will tell the whole story.

I am pretty sure that any gelatin that is labelled kosher will be okay to use with dairy - it should be labelled "parve."

rivka said kosher gelatin was made out of kosher cow hides. So if it isn't labeled "pareve", it's not kosher (with cream, anyway). (A "p" on the label alone never stands for pareve.)

So, is it too late to change my WenchCon status from "dropping by on Saturday" to "staying all weekend for all fun and festivities"?

I've just decided to attend a conference being held in Atlanta on March 10-11, so I'll be around right in time for WenchCon, and I would be very thrilled to be able to come!

I'm female (23 y/o), so KQ & Emma or Ela & Jane, if there's still a spot in either of your rooms, I'd love to snatch it up! I'm not scary, I promise. [Smile] If there are no longer any spaces or if you're not comfy staying with a perfect stranger, I completely understand, and I'm fine to book my own; just keep me posted!

[Also, since the conference sponsored hotel on Thursday night is the Hyatt (very steep rates!), I'm planning on staying at the WenchCon hotel on Thursday night. If anyone is around Thursday night and hasn't yet found accomodations, I'd be happy to have them join me. I'm going to book the room on Monday, so just let me know.]

Thanks in advance for letting a lurker crash the party. If there's anything I can do/bring/etc, let me know! Thanks again.

*Forgot to mention that I have no dietary restrictions.

Lucky, if you don't mind a baby, we'd be thrilled to have you. I think Katie will probably be staying with us, too, but she could also sleep around, and either one would be fine with me, as long as someone splits the cost. I'm also not averse to sharing a bed with anyone who doesn't mind possibly having a baby in it part of the morning (and possibly night; depends how she adjusts). I'm sure Jane and Ela will also love to have you.

We can probably even wait until the time comes to figure it out.

I ended up going ahead and bookng my flights because of the prices. My flights are supposed to get in at 12:42 pm on Thurs. and leave at 4:10 pm Sun. (which would mean getting to the airport by around 2:40, 3:05 at the latest).

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Oh, whoever's picking us up, I'll e-mail you exact flight info and arrange for to meet you closer to time. Just so you know, the car seat is a bit big, and usually requires pushing the front passenger seat fairly far forward. (Like, all the way in some cars.)

I am so excited...

Olivia, what kind of props or accessories should we bring? 'Cause I don't know what everyone else has, I'll have to look at mine, but if there's something it would be cool to have more of, I'll see if I have any. I just need to know what everyone's going to want to use.

Thanks so much, KQ! Staying with you sounds wonderful, or if it works out that things are crowded with you, I can shift elsewhere. I'll toss a sleeping bag in my trunk, just in case. Also, I'll bring cash to the event so that I can pay whomever gets stuck with me at that time. [Big Grin] Thanks again!

Since others were phrasing it that way earlier, I just jumped on the bandwagon. Katie's a good girl. I'm sure if she sleeps around, it will be chaste. [ROFL]

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Actually, despite being made from cow hides, kosher gelatin is parve -- hides are NOT meat, nor are they normally edible. As here:
quote:
Kosher gelatin can be made with fish bones, and/or beef skins. Contrary to assumptions, it is also considered kosher to use it with dairy products. Kosher law is very complex and the bones and hides used in gelatin production are considered parve. The general meaning of parve refers to foods that are neither milk nor meat, and many people assume this means that the product is vegetarian. However, OU parve certified ingredients can have animal products, such as fish, eggs, and gelatin, in them.

If you prefer the truly vegan alternatives to gelatin, look for ones based on carrageenan and agar agar. Here's one.

The only definite arrival time I have gotten so far is Friday afternoon around 4PM. I'd like to group the arrivals to one trip per day to the arirport, if possible, to make it easier for Tmedina, Morbo and me on the pick-ups.

Thing is, the Friday at 4pm pick-up MUST be at the hotel before sundown, so an arrival time laterthan that will need a separate pick-up (probably, I need to check the time the sun sets on that day, but going north at rush hour can take some time).

That said, with Morbo and TMedina helping, it should be do-able. If you guys come in on Thursday, I'll make one trip and get you myself.

The hotel should still take group reservations under the "Computer Companions" even though I released the block. Nobody expectsthem to fill up.

Email me detais when you know something-- I don't get on Hatrack much lately. Been painting my bedroom red. [Big Grin] And generally cleaning house.

I now have flight info in TWO People, even though I'm fairly certain there are at least FOUR who will be flying in.

I suggest that we locals who will be picking up and dropping off people have a meeting sometime before the actual weekend.

That would be Ben and Ophelia, Morbo, TMedina and me (If I left someone out, lemme know). I say we have brunch the weekend before and settle assignments on who does which runs, so we aren't all crazy when the time comes. [Big Grin] Crazier than usual, I suppose I should say.

What say ya?

Anybody can still get a room at the the reduced rate, as long as they havethe rooms free (which, frankly, they should), so it's still not too late for last minute people.

We have the room starting around six pm on Friday, when the meeting that has hired it out for the day ends. I hope some folks will be available to help set up for the movie night. [Smile]

I'm fine with staying with people to reduce costs, but I don't want to cross that fine line into crowding people. [Big Grin]

Yeah. The lady was willing to hold the meeting room for me if I wanted to pay for Friday, too, but she had a group that was booking 15 sleeping rooms on Thursday and wanted the meeting room on Friday.

I figured it'd be okay. So yeah, don't rush. [Smile]

Talked to my sister tonight, while she was helping her friend Zach pick out costumes to bring (to share and to sell, I think, if anyone's interested) and various other stuff for his dealer table. He asked her if anything less than opaque would be okay to bring. [Eek!] I said as long as it wouldn't break any indecency laws, he could bring it. So, if anybody wants to skip 'wenchy' and go straight for 'scifi/fantasy stripper' you'll have options. [ROFL]

Yeah, Lucky-- my real name is Olivia, and my nicks here are Olivet and Olivetta (the Hobbit Wench). But my dear Wenches have also been known to call me "Livvy". [Blushing] Sorry for the confusion!

Yeah, I don't anticipate anyone wearing anything too out there. I think the guy just wants to bring some of the costumes he's most proud of, and the sheer fabric is a bear to work with. But I haven't really seem many of his designs.

He did make a reasonable facsimilie of the Princess Leia slaver girl outfit for my sister (though it was fabric with metal overlay, not anything entirely rigid). My sister is either brave or ... partly insane. [Wink]

I wish I could go! [Cry] But I can't. Two reasons:

- I'm too young.

- I don't know where it is, when it is, how to get there, and anyone who would be able to stand living in a hotel room with me if I went, other than my family but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't want to go.

So I'll just have to wait awhile. [Frown]

I'd like to set up a mailing list so I can send a scedule of events (as soon as Jenny G and I work it out), plus, I need to arrange transportation for everyone to/from the airport.

Also... I can get a karaoke macine, but I don't have any discs. [Frown] Do you guys want to try to bring some or would it be just as fun to set up a You Don't Know Jack Tournament?

A Newly Wench Game? (like the Newly wed game, but played with an online partner)?

If that sounds good, would anyone be willing to write the questions? [Big Grin] Preferrably someone LDS, so we don't stray from the straight and narrow. [Wink]

Also, I will use the email list to send suggestions/reminders of what to bring (swimsuit, permanent markers for T-shirt signing (WenchCon t-shirt not required) karaoke cds- we have one, but it's opera).

Ela beat me to it. I have set the prices very close to the base price, to make it more affordable (like $0.50 to $1.00), but any money earned (if the shop ever earns enough to actually issue me a check) will go toward the next one's expenses or as a slush fund to help attendees out if unexpected things happen (like macccabeus' car not starting last year, or someone needing cab fare to the airport).

This year I'm getting a shirt. Last year I got one, but had everyone sign it for CT who had her leave time cancelled at the last possible moment.

I think he's going to let me, I just have to make sure it's not going to make the rent check bounce or anything.

I think the teddy bear is cute for a baby, right? Of course, I will also have to find a miniature mug or cup or a shot glass while I'm out there; we have a collection, one for each trip we've taken her on.

Apples to Apples sounds fun, but I don't have it. Whose cards were they last year? Can somebody bring Apples to Apples again?

My BIL may come for a You don't know Jack tournament, so I'd like to keep that one if I can. It's a really amusing trivia game. I love trivia, because I'm good at it, and You Don't Know Jack is the only trivia game that is a challenge. I think it's because of the whole "buzzing in" thing. I'm not terribly fast.

Mexican or Chinese could be problematic for us. Mexican - could contain lard. Chinese - they use meat broth in the stir fry - unless they have specifically vegetarian options.

Okay, then. Macaroni Grill for the big group outing Saturday night.

We'll probably do other stuff for other meals.

I will be providing delivery services for Ela and JaneX Saturday (will you need something Friday night, too?), but only because I like them better than the rest of you. [Wink]

Ben, we can do a smaller group eating Asian for another meal.

I should have had our pre-WenchCon lunch at Mama Fu's! [Wink]

We will probably get take-out like we did last year for Friday night, so that shouldn't be a problem. [Smile]

Mama Fu's is a fast foodish place with Thai, Chinese and Japanese food. It's a franchise started by the same guy who did the Moe's chain.

Everything I've had there has been good, though I usually prefer real Chinese food, Japanese hibachi or real Thai places.

Ron will go to Mama Fu's because he can get decent thai, and I go because he won't go with me to Peking Tokyo and the boys won't sit still at Chin Chin.

Oh, CRAP. I've gone and made myself hungry. [Frown]

Um, about church. Is anyone else going who's LDS? I looked up the nearest chapel, and it seems to have wards that meet at 9 and 1. I am leaving at 4:10, which means we would have to leave for the airport pretty much right after Sacrament if we went to the 1 pm service. I'd prefer the 9 am, because then I would have time in between church and departure, but I will cede my preferences if there is someone else LDS who will be going with and wants to go at 1.

I don't have money to buy a ticket for next weekend, so I can't come. I'm sorry. [Frown] Someone flirt with Frisco for me. And I have a dress!! A lovely red, crushed velvet dress that Ketch made me. Or, after checking, Crayola makes a 10-pack that sells for about $4. But I don't know how much I trust Crayola; their reputation for stuff like this isn't as great as it could be.

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Well, I got the Crayola ones, because they were indeed $4 for a 10-pack at Target. The instructions say to put cardboard or something between layers, make sure to saturate the fabric, and that you need to set the color with heat, either by ironing or by throwing in the dryer for 30 minutes, but after you do that, it's permanent and won't run. Do you think we can deal with that, or do I need to get the good ones (that come in a 6-pack for about $15 but don't need to be set or anything and are instantly permanent)?

Okay, your Events Coordinator hasn't actually fallen off the face of Middle Earth.

I think it's already been decided to run a movie marathon (with games in the background) on Friday night.

ROTK will be shown Saturday morning. Afterwards, we'll break for lunch. Following that will be "naptime", and then on to the Activities!

Proposed Playtime Activities:

Dress-Up. This has been the most popular activity at all previous Wench Cons. We will take some time to put on our finery and take pictures. We will wear our costumes for the rest of the day. For those of you without capes, extras will be provided.

Dwarven Metalworkers Fashion Show. Teams of dwarves will compete to design the most fetching protective gear. All materials will be provided by your Wench Hostesses. The design period will be followed by a fashion show.

Uruk-Haiku poetry reading. All orcs welcome. You may read your own, or someone else's by permission. Please see the Uruk-Haiku thread.

Bard Contest. You might want to begin working on this one now. Create original music to any of Tolkien's poetry from the canon, or come up with your own original Middle Earth ballad. Instruments are encouraged.

Action Figure Action. Categories for this year's scenarios include "Best Scene from a LOTR movie/book", "Best Reality Show", and "Best Musical".

Dinner. When we go to dinner, everyone will be in costume.

Nightclubbing. Olivetta and Jenny Gardener have been trying for 3 years to go out in Sexy Boots. Anyone else want to party with us?

Any other ideas, suggestions, etc. are appreciated. I'm ready to have a wonderful time! [Party]

I love this! I'm already working on putting two poems to music, and I'd love to sing them (if I get them done). I won't have an instrument, though, and even if I did, I don't think I'm to the level where I can play as I sing yet.

Jenny has a lovely version of The Road Goes Ever On and On that she sang for us at the first WenchCon. Gave me chills. [Smile] She's read her little one the stories and sings the songs when she comes to them.

So, kq, without music is fine, probably the rule, not the exception.

UPDATE ON KARAOKE: I WILL have a karaoke machine, though it may be of the intensely cheap variety. [Wink] Bring any and all karaoke music you can lay hands upon, and we shall do our best.

I'm sure Jenny and I will only club a knight that really asks for it. [Razz]

Also, remember Swimsuits, because there is a hot tub.

Also, if anybody has Karaoke cds, we may get a player after all.

Lucky, i may be wrong but i think it's to keep. I don't know. Those books i find most precious to me are the ones i love giving away the most. I end up rebuying Perks of Being a Wallflower at least 3 times each year because i keep giving my copy away...i am thrilled to do it.

Lucky, I had thought a permanant swap, but if you want to bring some books to loan out that's OK. I'm asking everyone to please bring at least 1 good book to swap permanently. More are optional, and you could bring others of lesser quality.
I'm planning on bringing at least one Card to swap, Treasure Box, maybe more.
And the Golden Compass--I got this at the last WenchCon book swap and I thought it was OK but not my thing. I know others like it though.
Maybe also some Vernor Vinge, I haven't decided.

You sure you trust me to do that, Jane? Last time I picked out some books to get rid of, you complained. Plus, I just gave a load of books to the Thespian yard sale.

Last time I didn't bring a book to exchange, so...what kind of books are we talking here? Are we limiting it to adult interest or are kids' books also fair game?

Thank you, rivka. They are wonderful-- don't ride up when the baby crawls around like a t-shirt does.

And I hope she's not a future Ender! Especially since she's a girl. [Wink]

There's always "I went to WenchCon 2005, and people wrote on me. What's up with that?"

I had forgotten about the book! D'oh! Now I have to go find room in the bag that's not already half a pound away from the 50 pound limit... (I know a book doesn't weigh that much, but we're not sure how accurate our scale is, anyway.)

In five hours, we'll be on our way to the airport, from whence we will depart for WenchCon!!!! Yay!!!!!!

As far as I know, Olive is picking you up.

If the plan has changed, I am unaware.

I'm an idiot and I'm ok.

Ben and Lindsay are picking you up.

And I'm going to stick my head in a sauna.

Sorry Mack - we were looking forward to getting stabbed by the best of them. [Big Grin]

You'll get plenty of pictures though - and I promise nobody will be adding fake mustaches after the fact. [Evil]

Oops, I hope Frisco hasn't left yet.

Anyone have a number to reach him?

Didn't Olive say she had some sort of contact information for him?

I can't imagine he'd come into a strange town and not have some means of connecting with the central hub of activity.

Hope KQ left some room in her luggage for a few cute baby clothes, cause I don't want to lug them back home with me. [Smile]

Well, I'm heading out early in the morning. I won't be online again before I leave, so if anyone needs to reach me, you'll just have to call my cell. [Smile]

See you in Atlanta!!! [Big Grin]

I'm heading out right after my Japanese class. I have to pack up my computer, though, so I probably won't be online again either.

See y'all there! [Wave]

I am all for baby clothes. Olivia has already loaded me up with some gender-neutral clothes, but I'm open to more. Once I give Ben and Lindsey the LeapPad, I'll have more room (although the weight thing may be tricky; I might have to juggle a few things). But trading stuff is fun. [Big Grin]

Speaking of fun, I'm having a blast with Olivia and her family. Emma adores her boys, and Olivia is, like, the best hostess ever. She's so concerned for my welfare, I feel guilty for all those people who I showed the towels and the shower and said, "Have a nice night!" to...

JaneX is at the airport, but not yet on the planbe. She has a box of chocolates with her. If she does not have said box, then she will probably be very sick from eating them all.

Have fun everyone!
