I'm back. I'm kinda tan, and my hair is at least three shades more blonde than it's been in a long time. I'm a little tired, I took a nap after getting home, and I'm sure getting up tomorrow is gonna suck. I'm kinda hungry, and I don't really want to go to work tomorrow. Just in case any of you cared to that level of detail.

I had a wonderful time, did a lot of relaxing, and had a lot of fun. I was so glad to get to meet maui babe! Wish I coulda met Zotto! too, but oh well. Maybe next time.

It's cold here, but not as cold as it was when we left. There were apparently 10 inches of snow while we were gone. My fabulous parents and a neighbor of theirs came over to plow my house out, but apparently a neighbor of mine had already done most of it. Very nice of all of them. Yes, I'm spoiled, what's your point?

As it is Sunday, and I stopped my mail while I was gone, I do not yet know if I recieved any further communication... I guess I'll stop and pick up the mail on the way to work tomorrow, but I can't say I'm looking forward to it.

While my parents were here they chatted with one of my neighbors, who seems to have met my correspondant while I was gone. His dog started barking one night and he came out to see what was going on, and there was a guy with a dog standing between our houses, on my property. My neighbor asked him if he knew someone who lived here, the guy said no, and my neighbor told him to then get the hell out of here.

I am freindly although not close with my neighbors, and don't see them too much in the winter when nobody is outside when they can avoid it, so I hadn't told them I was leaving, although I'm sure they figured it out when my truck disappeared for a week. I kinda wanted to talk to them before I left because of the letter, but the timing just didn't work out. Anyway, this was the neighbor who I'm pretty sure the letter-writer was referring to as a mobster. I'm rather pleased that he was confronted, since he showed up, and that he knows my neighbors are paying attention.

The neighbor told my mom that he'd be more than happy to talk to the police if necessary, and would give me his cell number and stuff in case I needed it. He also gave her a rough description of the guy, and the dog. So that's good.

Anyway, that's about it. [Wave] It's nice to be home, all stressors aside.

Good for you, I hope it scares him off since he seems to think that the guy is a mobster.

How was the bikini-wearing?

Did you do anything in particular, or just chill out?

Mostly chilled out. Went to the beach, did a little boogie-boarding, laid in the sun. Finished Stone of Farewell and To Green Angel Tower part I. Hadn't thought I would need to bring along part II, so I borrowed a funny little book called Fluke for the way back, which was kinda neat since it was set on Maui.

It rained two days, or a little over... one of them we drove around the island and visited "sites," like the Nakalele Blowhole and the Olivine Pools, which are a lot prettier than in those pictures. It was nice. The other rainy day we went to see Finding Neverland, which was a great movie.

But yeah, the main activity for the week was sitting on the beach reading, which frequent trips into the ocean to cool off. And it was just about perfect.

Oh, and this was the first time that Claudia and I traveled together, and it worked out really well. We have similar interests, and similar tastes. We went for about 2 hours walks almost every morning, and went grocery shopping the first day there and cooked most of our meals in the condo, so ended up spending only about $300 on food for the week for the both of us. For Hawaii, that's really cheap. And since we stayed in a condo that one of my relatives owns and very graciously let us use for just the management fee, and Claudia got our tickets for half-price with frequent flyer miles we ended up spending less than $800 each for the week, all-included.

Now that's relaxing.

Welcome home!

It seems like tons of people I know lately have been hopping over to Hawaii.

And the mysterious-letter-writer-saga continues....

ElJay,

Is there a way for you to get a picture of the security guard at work to show your neighbor, or does the general description from the neighbor rule him out?

Thanks, bev & I3! I3, I do have a gift for you... [Big Grin]

Mama, I hadn't even thought of that, but the general description does pretty much rule him out. My thought had been if it was him, he had only written the letter to freak me out, and wasn't actually walking his dog through my neighborhood at night. Since Pepe saw someone with a real, live, dog, I doubt it's him.

Picked up my mail, only bills, junk, and my giving statement from church. So that's good.

Good to hear you had a great time. Relaxing is so important.

But next time, you'll have to visit Sri Lanka! [ROFL]

Sounds like you two had fun. Now..if you had only goteen Claudia to register and post, maui babe would be real!

If Claudia does now, it still wouldn;t count...she wasn't real when she met maui babe, and it doesn't work retroactivly... [Big Grin]

Be careful, and stay safe!

BTW, do you like Williams? I did, although the twist at the end wasn't the huge suprise it was suppose to be, at least not to me.

Actually, reality does work retroactively, it was discussed before. [Razz] But, like I said, Claudia has shown no interest in registering, so the point is moot.

I really didn't like The Dragonbone Chair at first... I only finished it because I3 told me I had to, to give it a fair shot. In fact, I actively disliked it for at least the first 2/3rds, but then the switch flipped and I got dragged into the story. I honestly considered not getting the rest of the books, since I had thought so little of most of the first, but the next two have been okay. I haven't read the last one yet, so I can't comment on the twist, but there are already at three things I'm predicting happen at the end, so we'll see how close I am to right.

In other words, it seems a fairly imaginative although systematic fantasy epic, and a reasonable waste of time on the beach, but I seriously doubt it will end up among my favorite books.

quids... I told you, I'm totally up for SriCon 2006 or so. I'll start saving as soon as I get money allocated for my motorcycle... [Big Grin] I'd love to come visit.

Welcome home Eljay! I'm envious of your laid back, rest and relax vacation. Will you be posting pictures?

Tell Claudia that I said hello.

ELJay, I love fantasy books and I thought the same thing about the first book....I didn;t like it at first. I put it down, and only went back to it becaue I was bored. The whole Perster John thing rang false to me, for some reason.

It does get better, much better, and I really like the series as a whole, although it isn;t like most fantasy novels, really.

Maybe that is why I liked it.

[Big Grin]

I finished a couple weeks ago, actually. The middle was enjoyable, but I thought the ending sucked. I won't be recommending it. [Smile]
