And I just played the WORST stupid game ever. Total Recall. Holy cow! It's a kind of double dragon type game, but true to Arnold (Who is somewhat misproportioned in the game, being 2 scale feet taller than ANY of the bad guys), he has about a half millimeter punch length. Not only that, when you die, it seriously says, "I'll be back" at the bottom of the screen. I don't think he even SAID that in Total Recall! ACK!

Have you played E.T. on the 2600?

I haven't felt the need to go that far back in time yet. Never been nostalgic for the 2600.

I have an actual NES [Big Grin]

But does it work? My in-laws have one but you have to blow on the cartridges and then they still work only some of the time.

it works!

I also have a powerpad!

Now I just need a powerglove.

He said that in The Running Man, not Total Recall.

Emulators and ROMs are evil...

And illegal...

*caresses real, working NES*

I have a working NES... a few years back I had an emulator...

You know what's worse about ET on the 2600? We still have it, and it still works... oh... the pain. *shudders*

Unfortunately, I could never find a ROM for the one game I owned and never finished playing before our NES died-- Final Fantasy.

Woe is me.

I can't find one that actually works for more than a few months. I get tired of spending 15 minutes trying to get the game to work

They are only illegal if you don't own your own copy of the software, i.e. an actual cartridge of the game you are playing. Then the ROM is just a "backup copy" of material you have the purchased a license to use, just like it isn't illegal to burn a CD from something that is on an 8-track (which has its downfalls--it has allowed for people like Englebert Humperdink to be preserved forever [Eek!] )

Go down to "Final Fantasy I Rom"

You're welcome [Big Grin]

I also have a working NES. Which I love.

But we must have sold two of my favorite games in a garage sale- Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle and Dr. Mario. Bummer.

"So, according to this, we're in Goblin Valley. Great. I mean, I mean, I mean... it couldn't be Happy Valley or Wonderful Valley. Goblin Valley. Why not, Axe Murderer's Valley?"

"Hey, it's the wizard! I hope you don't get nervous like last time. We wouldn't want you to...'wiz' on someone!"

"I don't believe this. I got the scroll weapon, and I almost beat Mecha-Turtle at the end of level three!"

"Pop, I think we got it."
"Wait a second. I'm on the sixth palace of Hyrule. Yeah! I got past the river devil."
"Terrific." ::turns off the Nintendo::
"What the hell are you doing? I had the magic key. I got the cross. I was closing in on the barbarian!"
"You're losing it, Pop."

Fixing the Nintendo "Blow out the cartridge" sydrome. What causes it is the common cartridge problem of contacts inside the nintendo bending out of connection with the contacts inside the game cartridge. The way to fix it is pretty simple, but involves opening the system up. You open the nintendo and bend all the contacts into position with a pencil or some other long, skinny object. I spent a lot of time trying to fix my own nintendo when I cared about consoles.

He did. And I think the advertising people have managed to stick it into every movie he's ever been in. I suppose that's okay, since it is the only line he's ever delivered flawlessly [Smile]

Ahh, the days of blowing on the cartridges. When I got my N64 I was confused when blowing on the cartridges didn't solve my problems.

I use Vimm.net for NES and SNES emulation. Has a good selection of games (shhh!) as well as emulators. Keep your popup blocker at the ready.
