I was looking on the front page (hatrack.com) and it looks as though it is the Enterprise NCC-1701D, was on the cover of the Israel edition.

Direct link

Quite interesting to see some artist's rendition of Bean and Petra.

Yep, that's the Israeli one.

Is it even legal to use Star Trek properties like that?

On the bottom of the home page of Hatrack.com there is a image of the Serbian edition of Ender's Game. The ships on that cover look very much like the fighters from Battlestar Galactica.

I wonder if, in some countries, all science fiction winds up in this vast, weird gestalt, in which Kirk and Harry Potter are trying to save the universe from the Cylons and the Galactic Empire.

Tom,

I know several countries do not uphold international copyrights, Russia at least being one of them. I've gotten a couple Disney themed items from my MIL that weren't put out by Disney, and at our import store the other day we spied a kid's hot cereal that sported Sleeping Beauty with Snow White's bodice and the blue skirt.

It would appear that Israel doesn't enforce international copyrights as well. Either that or they used the graphic with permission.

I'm trying to imagine getting Paramount's permission to use the starship Enterprise as a cover graphic for Ender's Game.

"No, true, it's not about Star Trek. But it has space in it."
