"Have any of you ever caught yourself typing something that is backwards of how you would have said it?" -- Type.
"Have you ever tried to type something, then say it, and it came out completely different?" -- Say.

Just wondering. [Smile]

Yeah. I think the problem is punctuation. I find that a lot of what I say is run-on sentences that just wouldn't work when written down. Not that it stops me. I'm pretty sure I've written some of the longest sentences in posts here at Hatrack that have ever been written. [Wink] (Also, had I been speaking, I probably would have said "not that that stops me" but it looks odd to have two thats in a row so I changed it.)

The problem with the difference of typing and saying always gets me down on essay tests.

Why can't people naturaly type how the talk on essays!

I'm goofing up constantly that kind of thing. [Wink] Seriously, though, my sister was ashamed that I didn't max out the Test of Standard Written English- I think it's a section tacked on to the SAT where you say one sentence is better than another. I guess it checkes for things like split infinites and dangling whatevers. She said I was the only person she knew who hadn't maxed it out.

You haven't seen my hubby's writing if you think your sentences are bad. . .

He's written hundreds of newspaper & magazine articles, and still manages to have sentences that are oh, a hundred or so words long. Run on sentences, sentence fragments, incorrect punctuation, bad grammer. The list goes on. [Frown] It's kinda scary. And I married him. [Angst]

My writing, of course, is perfect. Always has been, always will be. [Evil]

And would you like a bridge to go with that? [Taunt]
