Somewhere, packed in a box, I have a tape of the only known recording of a castrati, the only one who was recorded since the practice was officially outlawed sometime in the 1800s. Dr. Demento played it on one of his shows.

It's funny how we come to believe that we invented certain memes. I'm not denying that you did, but, for instance, I was the first person I knew who habitually said "carp" instead of crap, and now I hear it so much I've even heard it on the radio. And it seems to me there are other things I'm certain I invented, that I can't even remember . . . and I can't always be right, can I?
