I am giving a gift to a teacher of mine who especially helped me this year, and I'm making the guard in publisher. Since she is entirely obsessed with Walt Whitman, I'd like to find a Whitman poem appropriate to teaching, learning, and so on, but wading through Leaves of Grass isn't entirely easy.

If any Jatraqueros can think of a particular poem off the top of their head, I'd love the help. I'm still searching for it myself.

O Captain! My Captain! has a certain Dead Poets flair, but it's a bit of a downer.

Maybe All Is Truth?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ...

On Old Man's Thought of School. Perfect.

quote:
And you, America,
Cast you the real reckoning for your present?
The lights and shadows of your future--good or evil?
To girlhood, boyhood look--the Teacher and the School.
