With my concerns over my son last night, I forgot to post a thread last night, asking for prayers and good thoughts for my sister. Her surgery is today. Actually, is scheduled to start in a few minutes.

Her Hebrew name is חנה עליסה בת מרתא רחל, and for those who say Psalms for the sick, we are asking that people say the 19th (there's a custom to say the one that corresponds to the sick person's current year of life -- may they be many).

Thanks!

Not a bad sister. You got it up, and this way she'll be at the forefront of our minds right when it's needed. You've got my prayers and good vibes this morning.

Link to KJV of Psalm 19 for those who can't read the original.

And what Eljay said.

Consider the Psalm said and all good thoughts being sent.

Thanks, guys. [Smile] And Dags, thanks for the link. *amused* The psalm is very appropriate!

I wish I could call and see how she's doing, but I just had two wisdom teeth extracted, and can't really talk. [Razz]

Yay for email! [Smile]

From my dad:
quote:
[my mom] got a call from the surgeon.

It took them a long time to find any problem with the parathyroid but they finally found a small piece of tissue that they hope is causing the problem, removed it and closed her up. The surgery is complete and she is fine.

We'll only know after the blood tests (over some period of time) whether they have indeed solved the problem. She will need to stay overnight in the hospital.

Yeah, Dags, it has been quite a couple months for my family and the medical establishment. We figure we've had our turn -- it's someone else's!

Yay Rivka! I'm hope your sister is better and I'm glad the surgery went well. I'm definitely sending good 'ol fashion healing vibes from my part of the country.

Also you had better hurry up and get better from your 'wisdom teeth extraction' surgery.

Healing vibes all around!

Actually, the wisdom teeth (or where they were, more accurately) aren't hurting too much. This could have something to do with taking Advil every four hours. [Wink]

I just spoke to my mom, and my sister is doing fairly well -- but she's cold. The hospital is overly air conditioned (why, when it's in the 60s outside, I have no idea), and she can't wrap up her neck at all.

It seems the parathyroid in question was hiding INSIDE her thyroid! My mom had read about that (as an exceedingly rare complication) online, but I had not. So she is minus one parathyroid, and a lobe of her thyroid. [Dont Know] Other than making the surgery more complicated, this is not expected to cause any other problems.
