...about how many humans lived on Earth?

Today the guess is inching close to 7 billion.

How many 2000 years ago?

Any know a good estimation?

I've heard it pegged at around 300 million.

Hey Tom, how much do you think would be reasonable for a print of some of Thor's work?

Posted by TomDavidson (Member # 124) on :

It depends on the type of print, to be honest. His work is very textural, and I don't think I'd be willing to pay much for a color laser copy onto photo paper; too much would be lost. I'd consider paying well over $50 for a decent, professionally-done print onto canvas, especially of his better stuff, and there are one or two paintings for which I'd pay around $150 for the original, provided it was in good condition and well-presented.

Now, what's scary about that one is that the world population has doubled in the last 50 years. [Eek!]

Didn't we get the population down to eight at one point?

No.

If you consider the fact that 50 years ago China had only 580 million, and Earth 2.5 Billion, that makes even less than 300M.
Consider the following facts:

Rome's population in Trajanus's time (114 AD0 was over 1,000,000.

In Jerusalem during 70 AD Iosephvs Plavivs said there were 1,200,000 people caught in for Passover.

A full Roman legion consisted of about 10,000 people.

You do the maths. I'd guess 200M. But Tom's quite close to the real answer.
