My father and younger brother are the only family that live within a thousand miles of me. However, they are visiting my sister in Minnesota for Thanksgiving. I have two options. I can either go to my brother's in-laws, with whom I am greatly uncomfortable, with him and his wife and have a "big holiday," or I can sit at home and eat a Cornish Game Hen all by myself.

Since I still have a fifteen page paper on court-curbing legislation to write in the next four days, I think I'll go with the latter. Plus, being alone is less depressing when you are actually alone and not surrounded by people with whom you have nothing in common.

I wish I had a girl.

Hey! I just found out how to list more than ten items at once on JSTOR! I'm thankful for that!

Damn. Brookshire's doesn't have Cornish Game Hens. Maybe I can find some turkey flavored ramen noodles...

You can come have dinner with us. We're in Richardson. Seriously, email me if you want to come. We're going to my mother-in-law's, but she won't mind one more.

Greatly appreciate the offer and I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a momentary flash of "hey, I should so do that." However, I have no vehicle that could go to Richardson from Tyler.

Thank you, though. You made my day.

We can leave now and pick you up...

But if that's too much trouble for you, we won't.

I'm sorry...

I posted without consulting my husband. [Blushing]

He's being grumpy and says he's not up for a 4 hour round trip.

I'm sorry. [Frown]

I would SO not let you do that. Besides. I still have this paper to write.

I'm pleased, but also surprised. What if I'm a slavering, baby-eating, axe-weilding psychopath Republican campaign contributor?? [Eek!]

Then I'll sic my daughter on you. I'd bet dollars to nickels she could eat you before you ate her. [Razz]

Well, I just got back from my in-laws...

I had a huge problem with them, so I didn't get Thanksgiving dinner. Jeff ate his fast.

You sure you don't want us to come out there? I'll cook for you...

Honestly, ketchupqueen. What would you do if I called your bluff!

No, I'm just going to sit and read a whole bunch of scholarly articles while sitting in front of a blazing fire.

Geez! Your in-laws wouldn't let you eat?? [Eek!] [Eek!] You want me to grab my axe?

I have a stick.

And swords.

Sticks are better for getting hard headed folks to come around. My friends use it on me quite often. [Wink]

I didn't make myself clear. I refused to eat. They made me so mad, I lost my appetite. [Frown]

And I wasn't bluffing. If you'd shown any sign of really wanting Thanksgiving dinner, I would have sent my husband and baby to get you while I started cooking. [Smile] *believes in random (and not so random) acts of kindness*

Oh, we did go to the store and pick up some special foods (like artichokes, yummy), which we just finished eating, btw. It redeemed my Thanksgiving. [Smile] *happily waits for stomach to clear out a little so she can consume the cheesecake she just baked, which is cooling in the fridge*

Seriously, you missed out, dude. I'm an awesome cook.

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving demosthenes. [Smile]

That may be the nicest thing I have ever heard of, ketchupqueen. Well, maybe not THE nicest, since there are people like Mother Theresa and Albert Schweitzer, but sertainly the nicest thing anybody has ever offered to do for ME, anyway. I am honestly touched.

I spent Thanksgiving procrastinating.

If it's not too late, you can send me your address and I'll overnight you some leftovers. Really.

Gee, except for the republican part, that would be my husband. Be glad you didn't have to eat Thanksgiving dinner with him. [Angst]

Oh no! That sounds horrible, Dead Horse. Does he beat you?? [Eek!]

(couldn't resist. hehehe)
