I am a big fan of Mike Allred's work, first with "Madman" and more recently with some of X-Statix with Marvel comics. Now Allred, a member of the Church of LDS has put together a comic book entited "The Golden Plates." I saw the comic at my local comic shop and it had the Allred style all over it...which is a hoot, because his style is one that I wouldn't have thought of for adapting sacred literature.
I figured if any group of people have read this, they would be here. Any readers of this? Worth getting for a non-LDS person? Allred himself describes the book as "It's a Wonderful Life" meets "Conan the Barbarian" which, as invites to a religious text go, you can't get any better. I am sorely tempted but also sorely broke so my comic budget is limited.
Any takers?

Okay, I don't get it. Why the...er..monotone and rejoicing. Is it that bad? So good it should recommend itself? Color me confused.

Somebody needs to go watch Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail.

Oh, I get where it came from but not how it relates to my question. My thought is that people think it either is a bad idea or badly drawn or whatnot.
