Hello, guys. Today 10/15 is teachers' appreciation day here in Brazil. Sort of a holiday for us, educators.

I don't know it it's the same in the U.S. or other countries, or even if you celebrate a teachers' day. Even then, I'd like to send congratulations (and a hug) to all teachers out there, who are doing their best to turn the world into a better place (or, at least, trying to teach the students how to write better [Wink] ).

And remember: if you are reading this message at all (whatever the language, although I'm really trying to write this in English), thank a teacher. Well...you can thank a soldier too, if you must. [Big Grin] After all...some times there isn't much difference between a teacher and a soldier. [Smile]

I'm not aware of a specific day here in honor of teachers, but it's a great idea! Teachers are so important to our society. To all the teachers (and potential teachers) here at Hatrack, thank you for making sure the next generation is well-educated. And thank you to many teachers who taught me (even if they never see this)--I owe a lot to them.

Based on your stories, I'd say there's not.

Yaaaaay Teachers!

Happy Teachers' Day, Eduardo!

In Romania, Teachers' Day was on the 5th of October, only ten days ago, and since both my parents are teachers... they got a free day! [The Wave] And the fact that it was my father's birthday was even better! [Big Grin]

Is there not a teacher's appreciation day in the US? There should be!

Huzzah teachers!

Naw there shouldn't. Teachers aren't special. Lots of other jobs are as important if not more. Lots of other jobs are harder. Lots of jobs are more dangerous. Lots of jobs require more education. I know lots of women who became teachers when their kids reached school age, and it's a nice deal for them. If you enjoy your job and find it rewarding, that's all the appreciation you really need.

There is teacher appretiation week here in april or may. I was doing cadet teaching last year at that time (march to may) and got to help out in the elementary during it. At my high school it wasn't a big deal at all, but at the elementary the kids made cards, the parents brought gifts, we even got free massage's (me included).

I don't think teachers get paid what they are worth. Therefore, they deserve an appreciation day! [Frown] [Smile]
