I tend to be more "weirded in" myself.

Sorry, my dry humor.

That was pretty good. [Smile]

*considers* And quite deep, if you think about it. Part of the reason I like Hatrack is I love quirky friends, but my social group here in Dallas is composed mainly of Mormon accountants.

Hmm... I'm not sure about that one.

I've heard of elementary school teachers going up to parents and asking if they are Mormon because the kids already knew how to calculate 1/10 even before they got to fractions or decimals.'

this post is confused

People who go back and edit their posts to make later posts look crazy, irrelevant, or wrong are the nastiest, most base people on the planet.

So why the slash? There's not normally a slash in the phrase "just kidding." Maybe it would be more correct with an apostrophe to stand in for missing letters. J'k'. I think I'll employ that one from now on.

J'k'.

You know, *giggle* I wrote Tom an email asking if he knew why on earth Icarus was using j/k [Wink]

He replied:
"Perhaps he has great taste. [Smile] "

My daughter got her job at the bank where she used to work in part because was so quick with percents. The manager who interviewed her asked what 20% of something was, and with her experience at figuring tithing, she was quicker in her head than he was with a calculator.

Edit: Not that I'm trying to turn this into one of those "Mormon" threads or anything. I'm just sayin.

Hey, is it like a rule that a certain number of Mormons in Dallas must be accountants? I've noticed a huge number in my stake are compared to anywhere else I've lived. [Razz]

Even my husband has fallen into it-- he's switched his major to Accounting and is working as assistant to a CPA!

*runs from thread screaming in fear of boring numbers*

ketchupqueen, are you in Dallas?

There are a couple of accounting firms and a consulting firm here that recruit heavily from BYU.

I'm in Richardson. Our Bishop and a whole bunch of guys in the EQ, not to mention a couple of high priests, are accountants. We also have a brother who teaches Accounting at UTD. And there are many others I've met in other wards in the stake that are also accountants. It just puzzles me a little, because I've never seen anything like this concentration of accountants in my (admittedly rather small) experience of other wards/stakes.
