Can one of you Utahns give me a better idea of where this RANGE CREEK CANYON is?

You beat me to it FarmGirl! I was looking for a site that didn't require registration that carried the article, and then I got busy with work and it slipped my mind.
It's a fascinating article, isn't it? What a great find (yes, it was technically found a long time ago, but you know what I mean)!

It is now on my list of "must see" places for my next trip to Utah. That, and the canyon that Bev (?) told us about where a Galaxy Quest scene was shot.
I have been by this on previous travels, I know -- by looking at the map. But I guess I didn't stop -- I don't remember it.

I don't have time to look for it right now, but there was an earlier article on this a few months ago - not sure how many - when the rancher who has been safeguarding the site turned it over.
At the time, he was very concerned because the richness of the site was fast becoming common knowledge, but at the time little security had been devoted to the area by the new keepers.
Could be the publicity from the initial article spurred some action on the security front - hope so. The rancher spent decades making sure the site wasn't looted. I'd hate to see it end badly.
Edit to add: Helps to read the article carefully. The article I read must have been in June, as mentioned in this story.

Yeah, I remember that on NPR. They didn't think about securing the area until after they announced it?
