There was a guy who tried to hold up a local gun store with a sword.

It's a miracle that he got out of there alive.

Wow, way to render the robbees unable to come up with an accurate description.

My chin mole is one of the things that keeps me from robbing a bank.

*whew*

This'll take some of the heat off of me. On Monday, I was driving through Edgewood (or was it Edgefield?) South Carolina, which is near Aiken, when I stopped to use the restroom at a BP Station. I found the restroom outside the station, but it was locked, so I went inside to ask for the key. When I entered, I heard a beeping sound that I assumed was some sort of chime to alert the clerk that he or she had a customer. I looked for the clerk to ask for the key, but there was nobody to be found. I walked around the entire convenience store and everything. After about thirty seconds I heard a piercing siren, and realized that someone had left this store unlocked, and that I had set off a burglar alarm.

Now, as I've mentioned elsewhere, I love the South in general. But a sruffy-looking (bearded & long-haired) latino man with Florida license plate setting off a burglar alarm in rural South Carolina . . . I know how this story ends. So I took off. (FWIW, I was only 10 miles or so from the Georgia border.) [Angst]

But now I guess the cops have someone else to look for besides the BP Bandito. [Big Grin]

if you have a chin mole you should get about three or more fake - yet - real - looking moles and place them strateeeeeegically around your face.
then put in green contacts and a mustache just for good measure.
heh.
Ima genious,

Even better, put a fake-looking fake mole on top of your real mole.

A man with pitchfork? And a woman driving the getaway van?
Well, that certainly narrows down the list of suspects.

He read an add that says, "Work as a teller and Rake in the dough." so he showed up at the bank with a pitchfork to see what he could get and....

In Orem? If so, that was my uncle's store. The sword was in a glass case. He broke it open and started waving it around, and immediately had four or five loaded guns trained at his head. Bit of a nutjob if I'm not mistaken.

Interesting to have a bit of family folklore come up on the forum. [Smile]

My sister has this leopard print shirt with like, this ring in the front that shows off her cleavage. When she first tried it on to show me, I said, "If you ever want to roba a bank, wear that shirt. No one will be able to ID your face." [Big Grin]

Actually, I'm just jealous of my sister's rack. [Smile]

She wore it at WenchCon, the second day, but I can't find her in any of the pictures. Sorry

[Eek!]

I...I...shooting puppies is just plain wrong! And no one should do it, ever!

Sadly a bullet is cheaper than euthanasia for an unwanted animal. If he killed them with a clean shot I actually don't have a lot of problems with it. Though it depends on how far out in the country he was. Thankfully though, due to this news story I bet the other pups get adopted in a jiffy.

It's p-cola, not exactly hickville USA. There are places to take such animals, and I can't imagine he tried very hard to give away free puppies, and failed.

Besides, they are PUPPIES!

yeah it says there are shelters there, so i guess that is possible.

I just know people who do have dogs dumped out by them because people don't want them anymore. Every now and then they take one in, but they often shoot them because otherwise they will terrorize the livestock.

Could I ever shoot a dog myself? Absolutely not. I cry when I see one dead on the side of the road. But, I understand the justification for doing so, and I don't actually think what the guy did was morally wrong.

I'll wait on the circumstances before I decide whether or not his actions had any moral basis.

Just because his actions might not be morally wrong doesn't make them so.

I just can't imagine why you wouldn't take them to a shelter. Even if they have to euthanise, it's still safer/more humane than to shoot them, especially for this paragon of gun safety in the article.

Oh yeah the guy was a stupid idiot... no doubt about that! But on the greater ethical issue, I really can't get that upset.

The thing that he's most guilty of is not spaying his female dog.
