Why do I not live near ANYTHING???

The closest clump for me is ARIZONA. I can't go to any clump gathering unless I fly somewhere. *pout*

We actually rank as a clump?

Oh, yeah, go on, complain. I moved from Romania to France to find ONE hatracker here - fortunately I had the chance to go to her wedding [Smile] - and now I'm going to Montreal and there's no hatracker in sight. I think I'll try the Moon next, maybe I get lucky... [Dont Know]

You know, the job market in Wisconsin is actually pretty good right now, and you wouldn't have to live in Texas anymore.

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

*considers* I am getting bored, and I heard there are some good schools over there.

Posted by Zevlag (Member # 1405) on :

Kat, if you move to Wisconsin, I am so going to also. Just because the one job that I was looking at didn't work out, doesn't mean there aren't others.

*would love to be part of the Wisconsin/Illinois clump*

*restless*

This is my own stupid fault for not making sure all the paperwork was in place for school. I AM restless.

Posted by Primal Curve (Member # 3587) on :

Hah. I am part of the Wisconsin/Illinois bunch and I'm ne'er to be seen at events these days.

Maybe we should move our family out to the Dallas area so you won't be alone.

Um... who else will be there?

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

Pop, just for that, you'd only get free babysitting twice a month. [Razz]

There was a king who lived in a country far, far away. And as he sat there on his throne, he thought: "Maaaan, do I live far, or what ?!"

Posted by Architraz Warden (Member # 4285) on :

Look, if you stretch the population figures some, we average one hatracker per 500,000 to 750,000 people. That's a pretty thin clumping. I mean, even Lubbock had a nice 1:100,000 ratio, and I would never have called that a clump.

I think as long as we can get together and party, that qualifies us as a clump.

Sorry kat, you're totally invited to the next get-together.

kat, move to Utah, plenty of clump here. And hey, it's Utah! [Big Grin]

Posted by ElJay (Member # 6358) on :

*ahem* People moving to the Upper Midwest should come to Minnesota. Ryuko and I are here, and we need more of a clump. And it's a very nice place. [Big Grin] And dkw visits regularly, which means soon dkw and Bob_Scopatz will be visiting regularly. Isn't that a nice incentive? Job and rental markets are both good right now!

[No No] Indiana has a clump. Minnesota gets any new transplants. [Wink]

I was in Utah this july. It was on one of those teen tours that takes you around the Western U.S. Anyway, on the fourth of July, we saw these fireworks in a town in Utah. To my surprise, about half hour into it, the feild set on fire! THe best part was that the locals thought nothing of it, while our counselors were herding us away from the feild like animals.

Just a fun story I have that involves Utah. [Cool]

I'm so jealous. I wish Utah would've burned down while I was there....

Hey, kat, Toretha, Averadu (I think), and a few others live over here in Louisiana! We could be the Southwestern-ish clump!

Or maybe you just don't love us. [Cry]

Although, no offense, I would like to be part of the Wisconsion clump.

::thinks Bernard just marry me now so I can be part of the Wisconsion clump::

[edit to add: he's going to kill me. hehe]

So who is in the Phoenix clump, now I that I am home from a visit and know that there is a Phoenix clump?

PSIT? Who else?

Hah! I may have to check out the Wisconsin job market.

You guys may end up with a token clumper.

I can't believe you all would try to talk a friend into moving to Wisconsin just in time for winter.

I keep stalking the AZ clump. It's awesome.

kat, you could join me for the Phoenix clump in September! Sometime during the week of the 20th-26th, I think. I'll be at a condo- I'll get some detail from my mother in law this weekend. Please let there be a pool.

Posted by PSI Teleport (Member # 5545) on :

Yes me, and Ludosti and slacker, Feyd, Derrell, and Peterh, oh and Shigosei if we can ever drag her down.

I have to include pooka here, it's true. She comes down often enough to see us, and seldom enough that we can plan clumps around her. So she's honorary AZ clump, which sounds even worse than AZ Bunching. >_<

OK, next time. We were doing the family thing, mostly, anyway.

PSI T, where do you live in Phoenix? My folks are down by Pierce Park. Dad teaches at a private school in PV. Brother ran for Secretary of State last time.

Posted by pooka (Member # 5003) on :

Da_Goat is in AZ too, though I forget where. It's north. I may be able to pick him up depending on when we do it and if we do have in in Phoenix. We had it closer to Tucson, where PSI actually lives, last time. I guess turning this into a clump planning session is kind of like rubbing salt in kat's papercuts. Sorry.

Posted by PSI Teleport (Member # 5545) on :

Yes, I'm sorry I forgot Goat. He doesn't come to the bunchings, but not for lack of desire. We're going to have one in Prescott soon so he can come. : )

I made the move from Texas to Wisconsin, Kat, and it did nothing but GOOD for me.

If there's a mass Hatrack exodus to the Midwest...err, Midnorth, I'm coming, too.

My dad's talking about his trip to Wisconsin next month to see the Packers play, and I'm jealous. He wants me to lend him my cheesehead. [Grumble]

I mean, MI has a lot more Great Lakes.....

I think Moosecon is an excellent name. We need people to realize how monumental this get-together really is. : )

Posted by Architraz Warden (Member # 4285) on :

That's what we were, a bunching. I knew it was something other than a clump, but was drawing a serious blank.

A shame MooseCon it isn't a little early, it could have been Moosoon or something. It's also a shame in that if it the weekend right after Thanksgiving, I probably won't make it. We'll have to see about that.

Also, anyone up for a post-labor day gathering in Prescott for no real reason? I'm sure GTO is, but anyone else have the time / desire / interest? And also, Ludosti and Slacker, how's your house coming? I hope the rainy season hasn't put them behind or anything (ha).

Kat, where in the Dallas area do you live? I lived in Colleyville from 91-96 (being at college some of that time.) I am figuring, though, that you are several years younger than me.

My good friend (and now cousin-in-law) Maria and I used to go ward-hopping for fun and visit different singles wards. We went to one once in northeast Dallas, found out it was the last day to pay to come along on a roadtrip to Branson, Missouri to hear the Osmonds perform, and spontaneously decided to come along. That was in 95, I believe. We also used to go to all the singles dances from the far west edge of Ft worth to east Dallas. Man, we *owned* the place. [Big Grin]

Anyway, just wonderin'

Posted by PSI Teleport (Member # 5545) on :

Feyd, I think Bunching is just what we call our brand of clump, ie Shinda.

As far as Labor Day, I wouldn't be able to make it. I think Lusti's planning something later in September that correlates with Pooka's next visit and I'm already planning to attend that one. So, total, in the next six-eight months I'm going to be doing two bunchings, one trip to or through Kentucky, and possibly one trip to Savannah, making Goat right; I DO travel alot. >_< And considering I'm doing all that with an automobile that has less durability than a pie pan, I'd be tempting fate if I tried to go anywhere else. [Smile]

I'm trying to figure out how you think you would get to MI after you parked your car. After all, as you mentioned, there's a lake or two in the way... not to mention Wisconsin. [Razz]

*thinks* I need a change. I like seasons. I like snow. I'm restless and I'm mobile. Hhmm.

In the immediate future, my dad's birthday is September 16th. I think the world will turn easier on its axis if I go, and if I go that weekend, I can go to the thing on the 18th. I will be there, and I'll buy my ticket in the next four days. For the Utahns and those in surrounding areas, please come. [Smile]

Assuming that a "clump" is a "reasonably large group of Hatrackers living close enough to each other that they can get together without causing anyone any great inconvenience" . . . well, let's just say you won't get any sympathy out of this Alaskan. [Razz]

I thought Thor was in Dallas too.

Anyway, I just got back from a weeklong business trip to Austin. Good Mexican food down there! Too many body modification people though. Hey, how about Halloween in Austin?

Posted by Architraz Warden (Member # 4285) on :

Thor is (or was) in Houston I believe.

And Austin around Halloween is sure to be a blast (though I'll be either in AZ or MA)

A Shinda is not a clump. A Shinda is what happens when the SoCal clump, ah, clumps. [Wink]

Speaking of which, we should have another of those! [Big Grin]

Oh for heaven's sake please move to a clump somewhere with good weather! Like ALABAMA, yeah! Greatest clump spot of all! And, Joshy might move here. That's a draw nobody could resist! [Smile]
