I'm so jealous I just had to make my own thread.

I should be the only one allowed to have 8 threads on the front page with my name in the title.

Really, I'm jealous. Hope y'all have fun.

[Kiss]

And remember, what happens at KamaCon, stays at KamaCon. [Monkeys]

Except for coming back to Hatrack to tell us, of course. [Big Grin]

I can arrange a Kayla con. Send me your money and I will send you a revolutionary safe herbal works overnight formula to either help you lose weight or regrow hair, depending on your gender.

Oh Lordy, I don't want to go. I just want people to pay attention to me on the internet. But only right now. This won't apply in like, a half hour. I lived in Chicago when I was a kid and have relatives that live there still. I love Chicago, I love you guys, but I'm not going to Chicago to see any of all y'all. Heck, I haven't even gone to my mailbox, I'm sure as heck not going to Chicago.

Thanks though Farmgirl. How you liking this weather? We got 4 inches of rain Saturday! That makes, like, 12 inches for the month of July this year! And it's supposed to rain again on Wed. Thurs. and Fri.! And the temperature! I had to get a jacket out Saturday and I'm still wearing it! Granted, it's 75 out there today, but I'm still chilly. Man, I was hating those 110 degree days, but this is wicked cool. I just wish it didn't have to go back to being 100. However, my allergies have been kicking my butt, so, it won't be all bad when it's really hot. I hope.

you must have missed my rain, rain, go away thread over the weekend, Kayla!

Record lows! Yep, shut the windows and put a blanket on the bed last night. Almost like fall -- at the end of JULY!

Hope that job works out for you Kayla. I know this is a big step for you.

Farmgirl
(and someday I will figure which region of Kansas you live in -- but I won't bug you, I promise)

I read your thread! The one about the rain, the one about the new riding lawn mower and I don't know what else. Was the rain one the one in which you got pushed off the road and then the dork was kind enough to pull you out of the ditch? I've been reading some of the threads, and yours was one of them because it was about the weather and you live so close, I was wondering how y'all were doing. I used to read every thread, but lately, I just can't. It sucks.

I'm thinking about starting Monday. I'll only work Monday and Tuesday and half a day Wednesday that week, which they said that would be cool. A nice slow transition. Besides, my parents are coming on Wednesday again to work the rest of the week on the house. I think even they are horrified by it. [Wink] Which is why I'm thinking about taking the job. Avoidance is my defense mechanism of choice, so going to work with my husband and giving up disability benefits which means I'll have to work for the next 30 years, just to avoid my house makes perfect sense in my twisted brain. My husband used to think it was cute, how much Monk and I have in common. Since moving into this house, he's not really amused any more. Just a bit worried.

And I live pretty close to Lawrence. Rock Chalk Jayhawk. [Big Grin]

*thinks avoidance is an unfairly-maligned coping strategy*

<sigh>

All other Kansas Hatrackers live in the Northern half. Kayla, punwit, screechowl...

and Noemon doesn't even live in Kansas anymore....

pooka, that's close.

Noemon, that's not fair. I don't know where you live. Besides, I'm the only one who goes nuts over the Jayhawks every year. It's really not that hard to figure it out. [Wink]

sndrake, I decided to put it off for at least a week. However, I did find out that even though this isn't through tickettowork, I still have all the same incentives, so a 9 month trial period. We'll see what happens. Well, if I actually go next week and don't put it off again. (In reality, my husband it the one who told me that they'd decided I should wait till next week. I think he saw how freaked I was and told them I needed a bit more time to adjust to the idea. And I've yet to actually talk to anyone from that company. I can't believe they hire people sight unseen. I mean, they know me, but no one has even asked me if I want the job. Or even told there is a job. It's weird.

Okay, I'm going to catch up to y'all soon.

FG, I've never even met any of those people, so it really has nothing to do with geography. I think screechowl is further west. And I didn't even know punwit lived here till recently. And don't forget John Keats/Caleb. And even more I can't think of right now.

sndrake, no kidding! My shrink isn't real happy about the whole thing. I think his concern is that not only will I work full time, but that I'll come home and keep working, sleeping even less than I do now and end up where I was 8 years ago, when I was so screwed up, my whole physiology was fried and it took over a year to recover physically. As opposed to just being obsessed by the house and spending as much time on it was I would my job and it. It didn't make much sense to me either. I can spend 16- 20 hours a day working on my house or 8-10 hours working and 8-10 hours working on the house. What's the difference? I'm just really screwed if my husband quits his job. [Wink]

The professor I work for is an absolute Jayhawk nut. He's got a Jayhawk rug in his office, and wears his Jayhawk ties. He told me a friend of his got married and carried a Jayhawk mylar balloon in her bouquet down the aisle.

See, you're not the only one [Smile]

Guaranteed, certifiable Jayhawk fanatic here. I alternate reading Hatrack and Phog.net. Kayla, I'm thinking we must be quite close. I live in Ottawa.

You're about 30 south of me, but yeah, I guess that's close.
I lived in Lawrence for about 14 years.
