No, not the byproduct of a nuclear disaster. And not the aftermath of some social blunder. I'm talking about t3h aw350m3 computer game, and its upcoming sequel!

This is still many years in the future, but that won't stop me from freaking out. No sir!

That is great. Fallout and Fallout2 are still fantastic games.

Very cool. The fact that Bethesda is designing it strikes me as a good sign as well.

I have never played either. Which was better?

Did someone forget to mention Fallout Tactics? We have all three...

Both Fallout games are excellent. Fallout2, however, is a better balance of the Fallout elements. It is the most purely non-linear game I have ever played. You can do anything in any order. Heck, you can get the second most powerful armor in the game the first hour into it, if you know what you're doing. I love Fallout and this news is more than brilliant!

Wait a second... I thought that Interplay was shut down a week or so ago...

It's almost as though there were some other studio developing the title--but which?

Primal — if you read the linked articles, you'll see that Interplay is keeping itself marginally afloat by selling off its intellectual property to other companies ... and they've learned that the only property anyone wants is Fallout. They've sold Bethesda (the makers of the Elder Scrolls series) a license to make single-player Fallout titles, while retaining the rights to large-scale multiplayer games (though it seems extremely unlikely that they could successfully create one at this point).

I seem to recall reading about this months ago and the general rumblings were that it wasn't shaping up too well.

Mind you, the general rumblings are almost always that a game isn't shaping up to all it could be so it probably doesn't mean much.

From the way Betheseda is talking, we're going be seeing a relative glut of Fallout games in the upcoming years. I'm not gonna complain, but just because they've got their hands on a popular liscense doesn't mean the game's going to be any good. Hopefully the IP is in good hands - if it is, we'll be in for a treat.
