just out of curiosity, where did the name "a rat named dog" come from? I've never known a rat to be named dog before. Naming a rat cat would make sense in a twisted sort of way...but I have never even thought of naming a rat dog. [Smile]

I had a friend who used to refer to his rat as his "dog". He'd cuddle his face up to the rat and say, "You're my dog! You're my little dog, aren't you?" It was so adorable that at the time I decided to name my next rat Dog.

Never got another rat, and now I probably never will, since my wife detests them. So all I've got is the screen name.

By the way, being the subject of a Dobie is the best thing ever. Thanks, mph [Smile]

you could always get a dog and name him rat...the wife might be a little more accepting of that. [Smile]

Though, I can't imagine having a pet rat...one of my teachers in high school had pet rats and one bit me...now that really hurt. On the plus side, the expression on my mom's face when I told her a rat bit me was priceless. All in all I think their tails are what really seems creepy.

The tails are half of what's awesome about them! It's like having a mouse and a lizard in ONE!

Um...Yeah! That's a great combination in a pet!
