So as not to derail the thread on very serious topic, I'm posting another link to the interview Farmgirl mentioned.

Fox, NBC to Air O.J. Simpson Interviews

quote:
"There are things that she could be doing with the kids better than I, you know? When, it's emotional stuff, especially with my daughter, I am angry with her," Simpson, 56, said of his former wife. "I am angry that she found herself hanging out with the group of -- who are these people?"

Acquitted of murder charges in the June 12, 1994 double slaying but later found liable for their deaths in a civil trial, Simpson has steadfastly maintained his innocence, insisting his ex-wife fell victim to a shadowy world of crime and drugs surrounding a group of friends she cultivated before her death.

Since families of the murder victims were awarded $33.5 million in damages in 1997, Simpson and his children have retreated into seclusion, living near Miami on a $4 million pension that is exempt from civil court judgments.

Asked by Van Susteren about reports of his involvement in an upcoming reality show, Simpson said, "it's a takeoff on something called 'Punk'd"', an MTV hidden-camera show featuring Ashton Kutcher pranks on celebrities. "It's me doing gags as Juice ... what they call 'juicing' people." Simpson earned the nickname Juice during his legendary career as a running back in the National Football League.

Ranking the chances the show will come to fruition on a scale of one to 10, Simpson said, "It's seven or eight, that it's gonna happen."

[Eek!] The man is flat out nuts, as is any executive that okays this show.

Yes -- I have a feeling that if I actually watch this interview, it is going to make me very angry.

Why does the media give air time to people like this?

Because of the huge number of people in the "What the Hell" catagory who will turn in to answer the question "What the Hell?"

Of course that will only last for about a week so the show will probably survive for a month tops. I seriously think a monkey in a business suit could make better programing choices by throwing turds at a big board than some of these stupid executives.

Here -- I found the offending quote I referred to in the other thread.

From FOX News

quote:
"As far as I am concerned, they [Bryant and Michael Jackson] are innocent until proven guilty," O.J. said.

In commenting on Bryant's case, Simpson appeared to mock the concept of date rape, saying "no" doesn't always mean "no."

"I have certainly in my life, had girls come to the room, and say 'no' or say whatever. And when I was a kid growing up, just about every girl said 'no' once," a laughing Simpson said. "You know, they had to, because you'd think they were a slut or something. In my opinion, 'date rape,' and 'stranger rape,' are two different things entirely."

Like spousal murder and stranger murder?

So, if "no" really doesn't mean "no," at least in the minds of high profile athletes, then Kobe Bryant is innocent!

Sorry, but this fuzzy logic from O.J. takes me back to Clinton's "that depends on what the definition of "is" is."

All of this helps increase the notion that the rich and high profile have a different set of laws and a different standard of morality (if one even exists).

Former Dallas Cowboy receiver Lance Rentzel was kicked out of football for exposing himself to a couple of girls. Mike Tyson actually served jail time for rape. Since those two incidents, it seems that every major crime committed by any NFL or NBA player has been met with a slap of the wrist (at best). Ray Lewis, Jason Williams, and O.J. should all be on serving life sentences or on death row. Drug incidents that would put an average person in jail for a few years are overlooked in athletes such as Michael Irvin.

We ket this start in high school where the "stars" are not required to pass their classes because of "no pass, no play" rules. It perpetuates itself through college and gives them the feeling that rules are for other people.

I'm tired of the double standard.

I'll get off my soapbox now.

It's just a notion?

Okay, it's a fact and not a notion.

Remember the Will Kennedy Smith trial? I think there is a racial component as well.
