It's summertime, and the monsters are loose

School's out for summer! (Cue Alice Cooper.) Now you can spend that quality time with your children that you've been missing. Now you'll be able to listen to their hopes, their dreams, and every single freaking detail of their video game exploits, which they will come tell you about no matter what you're doing, even if you're performing open-heart surgery.

"Well, page him,' they'll say. 'My last move was so cool! And then I jumped like this and. . ."

Generally about a week of this much bonding is all anyone can take without handfuls of antidepressants and Scotch chasers, which is why summer activities are so very important.

I'll let you know how my plans to teach my daughter German and Anatomy, as well as brush up on math and maintain her piano studies go. Last summer was a write off, as we will living in my in laws basement.

P.S. I thought this was going to be about movie monsters. That article about the man who sued his nul-wife for trapping him was sad.

So you're saying I'm not the ONLY parent who has kids calling at work during the day to tell me play-by-play on how they beat their Warcraft enemy of the day?

Very funny. I like the idea of planting sand spurs in your yard so that other children avoid congregating there. *goes out to plant*
