Yes, I know there are threads about it, but I can't find one that gives me a concise understanding of the whole shabang. I know it's going to take place in Chicago in August. Mr. Opera and I were thinking of coming, but is it fun for newbies too?

that's like asking if Hatrack is fun for newbies.

Which it clearly isn't.

Opera, I think the question is, would you like to spend several days in close, face-to-face contact with us?

I had fun at my first Hatrack get-together when I was very much a newbie.

Hmmm...close contact. Sounds okay, as long as no one stinks. What is everyone doing during KamaCon? Are children welcome?

Space Opera,

If you enjoy the people on Hatrack, my guess is that you'll probably enjoy the Kamacon as well. Especially if there are one or more people attending you feel you've connected with.

Basically, that's total guesswork on my part. I haven't met anyone from Hatrack face to face. There are a few nearby people I might meet between now and then, but for the most part it's a new experience for me as well.

sndrake, and you're picking me up at the airport. Heh. [Evil]

Opera, there will be other children there, and CT has already volunteered to do a lot of kid-watching.

I think it was decided a while back to forgo an official program in favor of just getting to spend time with other Hatrackers. Expect a lot of talking, board games (Scrabble! [Big Grin] ), and videos. There was also talk of going to the Art Institute.

I'm predicting that we'll be so much fun, random strangers will latch onto our group claiming to be lurkers.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Absolutely. Actually, I was considering inviting one or two myself.

Opera, I bumped the Kamacon thread for you -- well, one of them, really, but I think skimming it should answer most of your questions.

sndrake, a wise reaction. [Big Grin]

Rivka, thanks for bumping the thread. It does sound fun, and I've always wanted to go to Chicago.

Kama...err...you sound rather predatory. I will attempt to post another 5,000 times before KamaCon so that way I won't be a newbie anymore.

*gasps for air*

Glad katie's the one sharing a bed with you, Kama. I like pillows under my head.

Opera, cool! The more the merrier. I'll go bump the thread with the hotel info. I need to make a reservation anyway. Although I probably can't do that on a holiday.
