You're making me feel a lot better about having just mailed the first half of our save the date cards today for our August 7th wedding. Posted by Dagonee (Member # 5818) on :
Thanks! It's even funnier if you know the people.
I looked it up: 6 to 8 weeks for invitations is plenty early enough, or so they say. 10 weeks for international guests. So don't worry. We didn't do save the dates, but we talked to almost everyone we're inviting.
I don't know how to remove the borders from the pictures on thingstodo.htm. They're there because the pictures are also links. Does anyone know how to do this? I'm using Dreamweaver.
Thanks,
Dagonee

Awesome front page! I laughed the whole way through.
Although I'm sorry, but I'll have to RSVP in the negative for the wedding reception (didn't want to leave you hanging). Congratulations!

Well I know how to do it in HTML.
Just view the code in notepad it will look like something like this:
<a href="link"><img src="img src">
change this to
<img border=0 src="img src">

kaioshin,
He got the border because he made the images links.
Dag -- you can turn off the border if you want by going into your coding for the IMG SRC hyperlink.

And thanks for the compliments. Yes, it's true, Eve's made me a sentimental fool.

Why don't you make the external links (like the ones that go out to the tourist sites) open in a new window? That way it won't lead them away from your site if they didn't mean to.
(yes, I know they can hit "back", but keep it simple for users)

I'm always torn on this question. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. On the one hand it keeps the site "pure." On the other hand you can quickly end up with a dozen windows open. What does everyone else think?
Oh, and the MapQuest links have to stay in the same window, according to the rules on their site.

Great site. From a usability standpoint, that's wonderful.
My suggestion would be to put a header at the top of every page with y'all's name and the date of the wedding - to brand the site. Yeah, they know they are there, but it's reassuring.
And...where are the pictures?? We demand to see pictures. Posted by Damien (Member # 5611) on :

Nice blend of useful information and humor. And I love the front page. Posted by Ralphie (Member # 1565) on :
Dag - those are awesome.
I love the pic for 'clueless'.
Nice job.

The front page is cute, but my first and last thoughts were: "Where are the pictures of the happy couple?!"
Where they burned by acid or something like that? Or is it just that they're terribly comfortable and everyone is wearing them here in the future? [/princess bride]

Kat: We were going to make a little "logo" and put it in the top left corner. We still may, but we have to get the invitations out first. And we actually have very few pictures of us. We'll definitely post the wedding photos, though.
Damien & Rivka: Thanks. Funny but useful is exactly what we were going for.
Edit: Ralphie: That's my favorite one, too, although the jumping hamster captures Eve perfectly.
ludosti: see response to Kat. We're gonna try to get a nice picture and post it.
66 days to go!

congrats, man! I didn't know. I think the first page is great...

Okay, normally, I'd probably not say anything, but since everyone you know will be looking at this site and all. . .
quote: Eve went to Knoxville for Random's and John's wedding.
Did Random and John have two separate weddings, or did they marry each other? If they married each other, and y'all only attended one wedding, I think I'd change that to "Eve went to Knoxville for Random and John's wedding." But that's just me and I could be wrong. (Where's Jon Boy when you need him?)
Also, I liked it, but usually, when people send me stuff to look at, I tell them I like it and pass on any typos I see. I have to say, though, this is most impressive. And people think I'm anal-retentive. The things to do in the area page is. . . wow. And the directions, seriously. About 380 yards? You goofball. I think the only way those directions could be more exact is if you sent all the guests gps thingies to bring along with them that tell them which way to go.

I love picture stories! That was way cute. It will be that much better when there is a picture of you two. Congrats!

Kayla: Have confirmed with Jon Boy and made the change to "Random and John's wedding." Thanks for the help and the compliments. (Goof is a compliment in Dagonee-world).
beverly: consensus does seem to demand pictures. I'll post an update then that's done.
