Today is not Thursday.

This week on Thursday, we are having the division spring meeting, and it has an island theme. Everyone dresses up in tropical or Hawaiian outfits, please no shorts and remain professional.

I guess I'll leave the coconuts at home.

So today isn't Thursday, but that was lost to me when I frantically got dressed this morning because I overslept. Okay, I didn't oversleep, I woke up on time and watched an episode of Gilmore Girls from my new DVD set, and THEN frantically got dressed. Dressed tastefully, in khaki pants, a tropical blue shirt, sandals from Hawaii, fake flower in my hair, and a Hawaiian shirt on top. Not bad. Business casual with some tacky tropical touches, exactly what was called for.

My first inkling that today is not Thursday was when I walked through the door and ran into someone a couple people dressed normally.

I head to my group area and confirm what I was starting to suspect. The dress up day is tomorrow. *sigh* I'm pretty sure this is a scene from Bridget Jones' Diary. I think it's hilarious.

Yeah, when something like that happens, my looking forward to retelling the story to others overrules my current humiliation.

LOL. This just means that you have to go totally over the top tomorrow in order to save face. Try one of those coconut bra thingys.

The correct response when someone points out your mistake is to look them in the eye and say, "What, there's a tropical day tomorrow?"
