But a long, proud and distinguished (if a bit battered) history.

The last time I took a smilie-issue out of the one thread it started in, I got upset emails from someone, which eventually led to a truce.
As far as I know, it's still on. So unless I hear different, I keep (excess) smileys in smiley threads. I'm not quite sure if this is one . . .

Fair enough.
I guess because I think this is more just me (and Icarus) being silly, I don't expect people to get upset.
And given this thread was started by Icarus - I think you're safe.

I am of the "I thought MC was a guy" curiosity cat killing thingy.
Ugh, now that you mention the spelling irregularity, I'm reminded of the OSC short story "Kingsmeat".

Actually pooka, Kingsmeat was my first thought too.
*ugh*
And then Shan mentioned 'battered'.
*double ugh*

I just had to mention, imogen, that every time I see your new sig-a-ma-jig, I giggle like woah.

Well, shucks, imogen - I didn't mean battered as in battered, like beaten up - I just meant that the corporate/political greed destroyed a perfectly natural, healthy, wonderful thing.

No, I realised that Shan.
It's just my train of thought was on Kingsmeat and so when I read battered, my immediate thought was as in the cooking style - hence the *double ugh*.
Darn OSC and his icky yet fascinating short stories.
(Oh and Myr - thanks. I'm enjoying it. Only limited edition though - which I think is a good thing. It could get irritating rather quickly)

I know!
*ugh*
But at least pooka was thinking (sort of) that way too. I'm not the only sicko.
