Well, I went to advising today. It turns out that it is highly possible that I could graduate next year, which is a year early, or, in a stretch, the first summer semester after that.

That's a weird feeling for me. There's a lot I haven't done, and I'm about to be thrust out into the real world by about this time next year.

Sort of, at least. I'm looking into law school, which is just further education, but it's still strange to me because this time I'll be far away from all of my friends, many of whom attend UT with me. I'll graduate ahead of most of them, too.

This all depends on whether or not I get my desired gpa, which is greater than a 3.4. Right now it seems highly, highly possible. If it doesn't turn out that way, though, I'll just take a few blow off classes and pull it up a few.

But still... I was always more of an adult than any other kid I ever knew, but I never thought that finding out I was going to have to grow up so fast would be so disturbing. I'm a little scared but very hungry for it at the same time.

:-D That's what second majors are for...and grad school...and becoming professors....I don't really plan on entering the real world...it's the world of academia for me [Big Grin]

Stay in school. Being a grownup sucks. Also, graduation does not automatically mean growning up, just as not graduating doesn't preclude one from already being grown up.

I agree! I should have never, ever left school...
That stuff about studying and getting an excellent job seems to be a myth...
So far...
Stay in school forever!

I'm sure my parents would love to hear all this...

The eternal student. Sounds like a very pleasant occupation. ^_^ Except for perpetual finals. You know, I *still* have very, very realistic and traumatic nightmares about having to take a final for a class I forgot to attent or something related to that. I think school scarred me for life! I should sue....

I do actually have dreams where I fail everything, or maybe there's a deadline that I'm juuuuuust about to miss.

Hey, the real world's not so bad. Just don't get sucked into the idea that you have to do one thing your entire life. There's plenty of time to try different things, see what appeals to you, and have a good time in the process. Roll with the punches. Punch back, even.

Speaking of dreams, I used to have a recurring dream when I was still in school: there was a sort of gigantic ledger with lots of numbers on it. The ledger was the whole world, and I was the number at the bottom, in plain black ink, continually incrementing, always waiting impatiently for some sort of threshhold to pass. I don't get those dreams anymore. [Smile]

If I were wealthy enough to be able to do whatever I wanted, I would stay in school pretty much forever.

I'm going to weigh in on the side of moving forward. Definitely enjoy your student life while you can. But continue to grow, learn and experience, as there are some things that can't be learned in school.

(I get antsy every two years or so and have to do something different or I get cranky. Luckily I've found a career that works well with that.)

Stay in college as long as possible.
Take come classes that have nothing to do with yoru major! Expand your consciousness! You'll never have this time again...
Good job btw!
