Has anyone else seen this show? I stumbled across it last night. It is hosted by a lady that has to be 65 years old at least. People call in and ask ALL KINDS of questions. She used dolls to demonstrate, had a large rubber male genitalia, and spoke extremely open about all manners of sex and sex related topics. I watched the enitre show. It was disturbingly funny and entertaining. Like talking to your grandmother about some very personal issues.

It's on the Oxygen network at 11:00 sundays.

I recommend anyone who hasn't seen it to give it a try next week. I'm sure you'll be as fascinated as I was.

Sounds like a reincarnation of Dr. Ruth. [Smile]

I saw it once a couple of months ago. Watching her explain/demonstrate a penis pump was disturbingly funny.

That said, I think it's an interesting concept. She's really no nonsense in all her answers. Unlike whatever stupid show MTV had (has?) she's actually informative with an emphasis on increased understanding rather than entertainment.

I've only heard her once, on radio late at night. It was pretty funny, because it was obvious that the other host was uncomfortable talking so frankly with an "old woman." Sue was very very candid. The host was probably in his twenties and was sorta coughing at words and pausing so he wouldn't have to say certain words.

I haven't heard enough to decide whether or not she doles out the kind of advice I agree with. Sometimes Sex Talk people get a little too pushy/harsh on people who call in. That's not very nice.

Yea, she is really cool because she isn't trying to be funny or goofy. she's just doing her thing very proffesionally but that in itself was the funny part to me. She looks like she could be anyones grandma.

Last night she got out two dolls to explain the best way for a very pregnant woman to do the deed with her hubby. She was very matter of fact but very entertaining, at least for the severely immature like me.

sun-

last night she talked openly about both gay and straight sex. She emphasized safety. And more than once she told the caller to talk and be open with their partner about what ever the question was. She didn't seem very pushy at all.

She's been doing it for years. I've mentioned her before on hatrack. I think she's pretty cool myself though I haven't seen her in a while.

Sue rocks. She's been around for ages (clearly [Wink] ) and has been heralded as Canada's national sexpert.

Get on the bandwagon, America!

>> She's been doing it for years. <<

*insert teenage boy snickering*

...sorry, I only rolled out of bed a few minutes ago.

Yeah, Sue rocks. [Smile] I saw her live back when I was in high school and it was hilarious – she was actually trying to be funny, as a way of engaging the audience, and it worked like a charm.

along the lines of immature giggling, today we had a lecture on Erectile Dysfunction. The guys in the back got a big kick out of the mechanical and medical devices used. Or groans, in some cases.

Giggle: Saline filled tube you pump with a pump inserted in your testicle.

Groan: Injecting your penis with a chemical before sex.

She's came to my college more then once (this year...) and she's on tv about every night (or so I hear- I don't have cable).

Like DR Ruth, only unattractive people can talk candidly about sex without becoming the lustful object of attention. If her age matched her chest size, both in the lower 30's to mid 20's, most of her audience would be that giggling juvenile male. Her age works for her getting across some serious info.

It's also that element of older is wiser.

I like the sex lady (that's what she is called in our house [Smile] ). In my opinion she is much more effective than Dr. Ruth because Dr. Ruth quickly became a parody of herself, while Sue Johanson (sp?) is just very matter of fact, but with a good sense of humor - and with a great sense of when humor is appropriate to what she is saying and when it is not.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I think that if people would talk about sex more (instead of just snickering about it), less people would be dysfunctional in that area. I have always thought that the seemingly American habit of treating sex as somthing dirty, something not to be talked about in polite society, has not done our culture any favors at all. And, no, I don't think that talking about it makes kids want to do it (the anti-sex ed argument); more like treating it as something secret and somehow distasteful just makes kids curious about it and more prone to experiment in harmful ways. Is calling it 'doing the nasty' really a healthy attitude?

Yeah. That's just what I meant. Sex is mentioned and, automatically, its snicker, snicker, snicker.

Maybe I've temporarily lost my sense of humor, but that is really annoying. It's like the individual I used to know (at community college, no less) who automatically assigned a sexual connotation to words that are commonly also used in other contexts. It's pretty juvenile, you know.

I'm not proud, but it really is a good one though. But, after the Buddy Jesus incident today, I better behave. [Razz]
