Now that my dear sister is otherwise occupied, at least she better be, allow me to introduce myself. I am ElJay, dkw’s younger sister. (ElJay Double-Yew, if you wish to be formal.)
I met some of you at the Midwest gathering at Dana’s house, and told you at the time I did not intend to register at HatRack. Dana’s space, I said. The secret to harmonious family relationships is not getting involved in everything your family members do, I said. But, see, she kept sending me links to all the cute and funny things she and Bob were posting... oh, and did I mention, I knew before ANY of you? Ha!
*ahem* Anywho, where was I... So, links to cute threads, started looking around, decided maybe I wanted to participate after all. What good’s a mind if you’re not going to change it every now and then?
(Oh, and I waited until the big countdown ended only because I figured the scroll would be slower with the two of them on their date, not ‘cause I’m trying to sneak in behind dkw’s back. I got her blessing first. :) )
So, very nice to meet you all. A charming place you’ve got here, thanks for inviting me. I’m delighted to make your acquaintance.

Hey, there. Figured you'd be showing up sooner or later. This place has a certain pull to it.

Fruitful? My posts? I did not see any grapes or cherries among the graemlins...
And Tom: Truly, I just didn't want to miss the gossip and speculation that's sure to run rampant this weekend around Dana & Bob's date. I have a great deal of restraint, but not that much!

*grin* Well, then, regardless of how the date turns out, their forbidden love has at least borne one worthwhile fruit.

Greetings. I hope that you find a better way not step on family member's toes besides never be in the same room.

Welcome! I baked you a welcome cake, but my curiosity got the better of me and I deep fried it. You can still have some, of course.

Thanks to you all for the welcomes. :) But I must correct one thing... I am NOT an Iowan. Minnesotan, thank you very much.
And Theca, you didn't need to specify. Although I'd say you really only crocheted most of the weekend.

Dagonee... see, the problem is, she's got the dirt on ME, too.
And Tom, I didn't think they'd announce this soon... expected it to come at the end of the weekend. But I should have known they wouldn't be able to not share with Hatrack. But yeah, I wanted to be part of the conversation.

But, um, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to answer. I was thinking about clearing that up in their thread, since I'm sure they just dropped the news and went chuckling off happily, enjoying the confusion. But this is their game, and their fun. They enjoyed playing everyone with the dating each other thing so much, who am I to spoil this one for them?

Like I'd still be in MN if my only sister was getting married. I'm going to be standing beside her, wearing the most hideous dress she can find, I'm sure.

Thank you all. 'Suppose Dana will notice? In retrospect, I timed this even better then I thought.

btw LJ I may be coming to Mineapolis, late summer early fall for a work-related training class. My boss said if I drive (because it is easier for him to get vehicle reimbursement than plane tickets, I could probably wangle an extra day or two off to see friends!)

Hmmm LJ is currently in Minnesota and says she will be down in Iowa(for the wedding) as if she already knows when the wedding is taking place. Bob and dkw are already talking to a minister. It only takes a day to make the drive.
There is only a 3-day waiting period on marriage licenses. *counts* Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Nope, doesn't seem to have hurt our family relationships, though it has sometimes seriously inhibited what I can post at Hatrack.

BananananaOJ -- I would love to see you if you come to town! Woot! Just let me know when and what you want to do, I'll take care of it... and if you need space to crash after the "work is paying for it" part is over, I've got that, too.
Farmgirl, et al, I have read OSC extensively, if not exhaustively. However, Mommy Dearest read Ender's Game before any of the rest of us had ever heard of him. She then badgered us all onto the bandwagon. We have, perhaps, passed by her, but we're all way more obsessive.
Dan_Raven: Are you volunteering?
*waggleseyebrows* But seriously, folks... Dana has made no secret that she hasn't been on a date in ten years. I haven't been without a date for a significant period of time in ten years. Um, at least. And now is not a significant period of time. So no, sorry, I'm not husband-hunting.
And don't worry... I'm probably way more snide than any of you. dkw's the nice one in the family. (She doesn't get it from our mother ) ((Who happens to be looking over my shoulder.)) (((And just pointed out she made me dinner, so I had better behave.))) ((((I don't do that well.))))

Welcome, ElJay. The more the merrier... or weirder... it all depends on how you look at it. I prefer the latter, myself.
Make yourself comfy. I see you are nice and crisp from your burnination. Don't worry. The char marks come out of the chair with a little soda water. But, it was a good thing you weren't trying on that beautiful bride's maid dress at the time. (Isn't it a law that those dresses have to be hideous or they can't be worn at the ceremony?)

Actually, I trust in Dana's taste, and I'm sure she'll pick out something simple yet elegant, classy, flattering, and easy to dance in. Please!!!!!!!!!
