Wes leaves at four in the morning to go to Honduras for his annual mission trip. Guess who gets to drive him to the airport?

My mom is going to spend the night and stay with the kids so I don't have to wake them up and make them go with us.

He will be gone until next Friday night and next week is spring break so I'll be home alone with the kids home every day.

Pray for me!

And, in all seriousness, if you pray please pray for Wes and the other missionaries.

Will he be there for Semana Santa? That's one of the coolest times of year in Honduras, and in Guatemala too, for that matter. Semana Santa (Holy Week) is the week leading up to Easter, and they have some really cool traditions. Or, for those who aren't particularly religious, they have a lot of parties and head for the beach.

Now kids, be nice. No, No, NOOOOOOO! Hey Belle, you didn't particularly care for that vase did you? [Wink]

Adrian... wanna drag 'em over here and go to the zoo? Or meet in Chattanooga for an Aquarium trip?

CALL ME! We're on spring break, too. Maybe we'll even make it over your way... I'll call you if you don't call me. [Razz]

Good luck Belle! My kids have off starting Wednesday of next week -- we can commiserate on being home alone with kids. [Angst]

Well, the Honduras/Jamaica soocer match next Wednesday is only a friendly so there shouldn't be any rioting if they lose. [Evil]

Seriously, the country is pretty darn stable and safe right now. I hope he has a good time, I wish him (and you) the best of luck.

Belle, you and Wes are in my thoughts. I'm up most nights, so if you get lonely, give a holler. [Smile]

(for me, the worst part always was the night)

Well, I'm back from the airport. I don't often watch the sunrise, it's kinda cool. I should be up more often.

I'm not worried about his safety because of unrest or problems in the area. My concerns are mainly that they stay safe while travelling, and that they are protected from any illness from local food or water. They do drink bottled water only, and the missionary compound cooks all their food for them.

They also travel high into the mountains on horseback to reach some of the villages they take medical aid to, and that is a perilous trip.

Of course, they are under God's protection, but I'm only human, and even though I intellectually know God is in control my baser side worries. A lot.

Belle, I'm thinking of you and your husband.

The worst part for me is also nights. Tony went away for 3 weeks recently. I coped. Just. Days were fine - but the time that I usually spend with him (the evenings and nights) were very lonely. Quite a few of them I spent sitting up to ridiculous hours posting on hatrack. [Smile]

Because of the time difference, I'm always up during your nights - so look for me on AIM, or send me a random email (random in that you don't really know me [Smile] ) if you want.

Either way, my thoughts are with you.

What type of missionary work will he be doing down there? Is it relief work or proselytizing? (Or something else?)

Nevermind. If I had read more carefully I would have seen "medical aid" above.

Good luck to you both. I'll send good thoughts your way. [Smile]

How are you doin', Belle? I always find it hard when my husband is gone on business, but then he is usually inside the US and we are able to contact each other pretty easily. On the occasions that he has been out of the country, I find myself worrying more than normal.

That is awesome what he is doing. Hopefully all will go well and you will have him back soon. [Wink]
