Just so you know, Christy, we are Manic Panic users and you have to be careful...if you want a light color you have to go REALLY blond first or Manic Panic doesn't do much. Plus it's semi-permanent, so if you don't mind having blond hair for a while, or you want to keep dying once a week, Manic Panic is for you. Also, you can't just dye your hair back to normal after you're done with your Manic Panic color because the compound henna that is used interferes with the normal dying process using something like L'Oreal or your everyday hair color products.
I've never used that other one, but in short, we weren't to happy with the hoops we had to jump through for Manic Panic.

The goodyear blimp reference was a quote from "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" and in that movie it was used to distract people, there fore it was appropriate for Christy.

I'm not sure I'm up for weekly re-dying...does it really only last that long? Being blonde for a while wouldn't bother me, though.

Depends on your hair...for my husband, who went white/silver, the toner only lasted a day or two. (You probably know that the toner is a very pale purple, which supposedly negates any yellow left in your hair, giving the appearance of white.) If he had used a darker color it probably would have lasted a bit longer, but then even permanent dye doesn't last long in his hair. The last time he went white, when we dyed it back to dark brown, it was light brown within a week.
I have no idea if you're serious about the purple, but it crossed my mind yesterday that I might do that. I'm not sure though...I finally have my natural color back. I may enjoy it a bit longer.

Christy, I haven't regretted even one day of dying my hair bizarre colors. My hair is dark brown, so I had a friend bleach sections underneath and in the back, then she dyed it bright pink. The effect is that only the tips show the color. The rest is my natural color. Also, as my hair grows out, because the weird color is kind of buried, the fact that I have serious roots going on isn't noticable.
The pink was a bit of a mistake...my hair is so dark that the pink was more shocking than attractive. Pink would have worked better if I were blonde. Darker colors have worked better since. I especially like cobalt blue, though I liked the streaks of purple while they lasted.
I can't remember the name of the product I use...it's over at a friend's house, so I'll have to get it back from her to let you know. It works pretty well and this last dye job has lasted almost 2 months and probably has a good 3 weeks left in it before I'll need to re-dye it. This is quite a bit longer than previous applications, and the difference this time is that I found clear dye, which we applied after the blue to sort of "seal" it in. Two big benefits: 1. It lasts longer, and 2. I didn't leave a trail of blue dye everywhere. Fortunately, the dye does wash out of clothing and bed linens. And washes off the walls of our shower easily.
I've had the *best* time with these colors...friends couldn't believe I'd done it, and the kids at school and church think it's the coolest thing.

The streaks/tips idea is a good one.
I'm not sure how serious I am about this. A lot of people would freak out, but I've really wanted to do it for a while. I've done the non permanent gels, which are fun but so sticky.

Christy, my weird hair odd-yssy ( ) started when I met a lady my own age who had peacock colored hair streaked through her natural brown. She was my own height and looked a bit like me as well. We got to talking about her hair, and she said it was something she'd always wanted to do, so one very happy day, she threw caution to the wind and went for it.
I've always wanted to have blue streaks through my hair. Since High School. And I never had the courage to do it. Until meeting this lady.
So to make sure I was really serious about it, I made myself "earn" it. I started working out and promised myself that if I was still interested, and managed to work out 3 to 4 times a week for at least 6 weeks, I could get my hair done with the wild colors. After 8 weeks, and meeting some of my fitness goals, I went and had it done.
Fortunately it isn't a problem with my work. Otherwise I'd have dyed it back to brown a long time ago.

I've seen mamy people with colored hair and have always been in awe. The thing is, it takes a certain amount of personality and I'm not sure if I really could handle the attention once I did it. (which is why I've remained in awe so far) On the other hand, it would be so liberating and I have always wanted to do it.
My mom would really freak and I'm pretty sure most of the people at work would as well, although I don't think there would be any real problem. My boss is pretty conservative, but also pretty passive.

We got a free sample of those new mint "tabs" which really scare me on many levels, but I was convinced to try them one morning. I think they are the Listerine brand.
Oh my goodness!!! It adhered to the roof of my mouth making my eyes water, my sinuses run and had me in a general state of shock for about a minute. Wow, those are strong! I like Altoids (I've never tried the gum) and Eclipse gum, but that's about as strong as I can tolerate.
*is going to try her "gel wash out dye" this weekend to see what she thinks about going more permanent*

Well, the verdict's in. Jes said I could do whatever I wanted with my hair but he made it clear he likes it best the way it is. I figure I'll let him enjoy it a little while longer before I mess with it.
