I'll be in Provo this Saturday staying with a friend before I meet Hobbes & his family to go camping for the week.

Anyone want to do lunch?

Posted by Trogdor the Burninator (Member # 4894) on :

Time?

Posted by Jon Boy (Member # 4284) on :

I've got something at 10 in the morning (it might be an hour or two) and then something at 3. Sometime after noon would be good.

Posted by Trogdor the Burninator (Member # 4894) on :

I've got class

from 8 to noon, then a meeting directly after in Provo. Depending on the time, I could sneak over for some non-caffienated drinks and clean humor.

Posted by hansenj (Member # 4034) on :

You kidding? I could meet Annie? I'm there! [Smile]

Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :

Hmmm.... I have saturday off, so I don't mind, though I have to check things with da parents. Also, see if friends have any plans with me.

But more than likely, I'll try to.

You guys are all really lucky. *moops until he remembers what's happening the next day*

[Big Grin] Enjoy all!

Hobbes [Smile]

So like... 1? 1 or 2? I'm not on a schedule, so I'm flexible. If trogdor can make it, I'm definitely wearing my fire-retardant suit. [Smile]

Posted by Jon Boy (Member # 4284) on :

I think 1 would be good for me.

*wonders how far Provo is from Tucson*

Posted by Sarcasm (Member # 4653) on :

I should have more time on Saturday? Why's that?

Posted by pooka (Member # 5003) on :

Are we going to email the location? I can *try* to attend again. I'm always up for Panda express. Pandas are delicious.

Posted by Zevlag (Member # 1405) on :

::wishes Provo were 30 minutes closer::

And Satureday's are always hard for me... At least that far away.

Annie, where are you and Hobbes camping? It's perfect weather for such an activity.

Ha ha ha! I've never had panda meat.

I don't have any suggestions for places. Should we make it on campus? I don't think I have access to a car. But I am a pretty good bus rider. I'll leave it to the locals to pick the best place. [Smile]

Posted by Annie (Member # 295) on :

hmmm., good question Zev. Where are we camping, Hobbes? Utah is all I know. [Razz]

Posted by PSI Teleport (Member # 5545) on :

Heh. 888.8 miles.

Sorry, I ain't driving 10 hours for panda meat. [Razz]

Posted by Sarcasm (Member # 4653) on :

According to MapQuest, it's only 735.34 miles, though they say the drive is 13 hours and 26 minutes.

Ha ha, niether do I. Southern Utah though, so that cuts it down some. Probably around Captial Reef.

Hobbes [Smile]

13.5 hours? Either they have terrible traffic in Utah or they drive like grannies.

By the way, Yahoo said it was over 13 hours too. I changed it to ten because I know better than that. [Wink]

Oh, and the difference is that you don't know that I have to drive around an entire mountain range just to get to the interstate. [Razz]

You said I should have more time available on Saturday. I don't get it. Why will I have more time available on Saturday? Or are you saying that you want me to have more time available?

Posted by pooka (Member # 5003) on :

Weather.com is predicting 40s and partly cloudy or i might recommend a picnic. Campus and a commercially neutral location

Edit: Hey, my talented baby just made her first post!

Anyway, a place we can bring brownbags might be nice. Was that the case where ya'll met last fall?

I had Connie's deep dish today, and it was sooooo not chicago deep dish. Only one crust and the cheese was on the top! [Grumble]

I won't be able to see Annie [Cry] [Cry]

Oh, wait...Saturday...der...

We're talking about having a rehearsal for my TMA group, but we should be done by the afternoon.

is panda express on campus?

is it..... Chinese????

*drools*

Mind if Porter, I and our kids join you? We are still pretty new, but we would love an opportunity to meet y'all.

Posted by Zevlag (Member # 1405) on :

Annie, when and how are you coming in? Maybe we could meet up before then...

Posted by Annie (Member # 295) on :

That would be great Beverly!

We'll have to finalize whatever our plans are pretty soon, because I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon and probably won't be able to check back. So, um, yeah. Let's decide when and where by at latest noon tomorrow. Doable? [Smile]

Can we meet on campus? Is Panda on campus (doesn't frequent the cougareat often enough to know)? I'm hoping to get some cash by Saturday (with BYU mail, who knows), but if I can't go out to eat with Annie I at least want to give her a big hug and say hi.

I think I'm going to take a swig of alcohol just for glancing at this thread.

Posted by hansenj (Member # 4034) on :

Panda Express isn't on campus, but it's not far from campus (University Ave. and Bulldog). Lucky Buns however is much farther (especially when you are me and do not have a car). I personally don't like Chinese food (don't kill me! [Smile] ), but if that's what everyone wants to do, I'll still come. I do think Pooka's idea to bring brown bags and have a little picnic is good though. We could meet on campus and then decide where to go from there? I don't know, I'm open for anything. And I'm excited I'll get to meet some more cool Jatraqueros!! [Big Grin]

Posted by Annie (Member # 295) on :

Well, I don't have any means of packing a lunch, so if we could picnic somewhere near a food place, it would be great. [Smile]

Posted by beverly (Member # 6246) on :

Saturday's weather forecast definitely looks better than it did a couple of days ago, but it will probably be in the 40s. Do you think that is to cold for a picnic?

Posted by hansenj (Member # 4034) on :

Well, I'm up for whatever people want to do. I have to go to class now, so I'll just check back later to see what you guys decided. [Smile]

Posted by mr_porteiro_head (Member # 4644) on :

I say we just meet at CougearEat and go from there. If you want to bag a lunch, do so. If not, you can buy something there. We can then decide if it's too cold to go outside.

Posted by Annie (Member # 295) on :

Yay! Way to be decisive.

Cougar Eat at 1:00. Look for me - I'll wear two long braids in my hair so I'm easy to spot. [Smile]

Posted by mr_porteiro_head (Member # 4644) on :

Look for us -- we'll the couple that's too old to be there with two toddlers and a baby.

Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :

Hmmm... Cougar Eat. Is that the place we ate at last time? Perhaps this time, I won't park next to the football field. If I could understand where the heck visitor parking is.

Posted by mr_porteiro_head (Member # 4644) on :

It's east of the building that has the Cougar Eat in it, right across the road.

You can pretty much park anywhere at BYU on a Saturday. Pay attention to the signs at parking lot entrances. Most of them only reserve parking from Monday through Friday. You shouldn't have too much trouble finding a spot much closer to the Wilk this time.

Hmmmm....

Posted by pooka (Member # 5003) on :

It sounds like there will be 6 kids if I make it. I'm going to pull for a migration to the Kiwanis park, which is kitty corner from the Creamery on 9th. MMmmm. Creamery. But that will depend a lot on the weather. Final answer: I will look for folks at the Cougareat at 1.

hee hee... I wouldn't say that's all that uncommon at BYU. [Razz]

Posted by Sarcasm (Member # 4653) on :

Okay. We'll be at the Cougareat at 1:00 tomorrow.

Three kids is a little uncommon for BYU students, though there are several people in my ward who have two.

I'll see what my wife thinks. It might be an excuse to get out of the house.

If we show up, we'll have two kids in tow.

Out in front of the CougarEat, right? In the hallway between the CougarEat and the commons area?

I can't get onto hotmail for some reason and I'm on a school computer so no AIM. Annie, if you're still reading this, have a safe trip! I Love you and will see you soon. [Big Grin] [Kiss]

The rest of you, you're all really lucky! [Cool]

Hobbes [Smile]

Yipee!

I'll be there at 1:00! [Big Grin]

Sounds like with the kids Kiwanis would be a great idea! *Hopes the weather holds out on us*

Oh dear...I heard it might snow tomorrow.

I wore flip flops today! Snow should not be allowed!

I am very dissapointed I won't be able to make it!

[side note]
We need more North of Salt Lake Hatrackers.

Posted by beverly (Member # 6246) on :

According to my sources, the weather is looking better and better! Yes, a few days ago they were predicting snow, but now it looks like the skies will be pretty clear and high 40s if not 50s. I could see that working for a picnic. The kids would enjoy that.

Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :

Ok, lets talk visitor parking.

Get off 1-15 on University Parkway. Drive long ways away.

Ok, there's the BYU Stadium. Drive past?

After driving past, I'll need to turn right on some street, right? What street would I turn right on?

Posted by hansenj (Member # 4034) on :

Well, my suggestion would be to turn right on Canyon (just before the stadium...you'll see it on your left on the other side of the street), and then at the next big light (I think there's a little one that's just at a parking lot, but that's not it) turn left. I think at that point that street is called Bulldog. This road goes up into campus and you'll pass the Marriot Center on your left. It wraps around and becomes Campus drive at some point. But before it curves too much there is a visitor's parking lot on the right (there's a sign for it). Or, since it's Saturday and most lots are M-F, you could drive farther and park in one of the lots behind the Wilkinson Center where the Cougareat is. But like someone already mentioned, I'd read the signs to make sure the lot's not enforced on a Saturday if you do that. Have I helped or confused you more? [Smile]

Posted by hansenj (Member # 4034) on :

Oh, and it looks like the weather is going to be beautiful today. [Big Grin] I think it might be fun to bring balls/frisbees/whatever else you can use outside so we could have fun at the park. Too bad I don't have any of those things... Anybody want to bring stuff? [Smile]

Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :

Turn right on Canyon.

Turn left at big light.

Look for visitor parking.

Got it.

*bump*

It was quite fun. It's too bad we missed Pat and afr. But beverly, Mr. P and their chitlins came, as well as pooka and her little ones, and Amka, Jennie, Jon Boy and Ruth, Nate, Pajeba, and myself. Am I missing anyone? I sure hope not. Oh wait...ANNIE! The whole purpose of our get-together! And Annie's friends and Pooka's sister were there for a while as well. We had fun at the park while the littleuns played on the swings. Hatracker's babies are so gorgeous.

Let's see...my seen list is now up to...twelve. Nate was bragging about being in his 50s. Alas.

Posted by beverly (Member # 6246) on :

So, did the party really get started after we left? [Wink] We would love to have stayed longer, but we had "potty problems".

I did feel like I spent more time tending children than gabbing, but it was a wonderful opportunity nonetheless.

Posted by Zevlag (Member # 1405) on :

I missed it [Frown]

Posted by hansenj (Member # 4034) on :

Yeah Zev, my list of Utah jatraqueros that I haven't met yet is growing quite short, and you're still on it. Something definitely must be done about this.

Let's see if I have you beat Ashley...my total is now (*does a quick mental headcount*) 18! Wow! That's cool. (Still not as cool as Nathan, but really, who is as cool as Nathan? [Wink] ) +6 mini-Jatraqueros from today. They were all so cute!! And Athena was the coolest because we share the same birthday (just thought I'd mention it one last time...I think it's great! [Smile] ).

Beverly, it was too bad about the potty problems. [Wink] You just missed going to the creamery for ice cream (and laughing at unsuspecting car passengers who stopped at the signal outside the window we were sitting at. [Evil] )

Thanks for making this whole thing happen, Annie (our illustrious guest-of-honor of the day). [Big Grin] It was great to meet you. I'm glad we got to help fill your day of waiting for Hobbes to come. It was also fun to meet Pooka, Amka, Mr. & Mrs. Porteiro Head, and all the little ones. [Big Grin] And I of course can't leave out all the other Utah get-together "regulars". Always fun to see you guys. [Smile] Just lots of fun overall!

Oh, and Paula, let me know if you want to borrow Enchantment. We could meet somewhere on campus so I wouldn't have to walk all the way to DT. [Wink]

You've got the worst luck, Zevlag. One of these days, though. One of these days . . .

It's too bad Ruth and I had to take off early. It was a lot of fun meeting everyone, especially my triplet Annie.

I'm just surprised that nobody talked about mafia the whole time. . . .

Posted by Taalcon (Member # 839) on :

Worst luck? Zev was at WENCHCON! That makes him luckier than most of y'all.
