Well, I have a job, sort of. Or rather, I know of a temp agency that is always sending out workers. The catch[es]? Best time to come in is 6:30 in the morning (this isn't so bad, actually), pay sucks (typically $6-7 an hour, sometimes a bit less, sometimes a bit more), there are no benefits, and pretty much all the work is manual labor.

I somewhat enjoy manual labor, in the general sense. I am right now pretty out of shape, however (my stamina's not so bad, luckily), so right now it sucks. I spent four and a half hours unloading a semi. The first hour to hour and a half was the worst -- large bundles of PVC pipes, each just small enough one person could handle it. After that wasn't so bad, just lots and lots of boxes of vacuum parts to be stacked on pallets. Luckily I got the stacking job, which was probably the easiest (I and the driver stacked two and a half to three palettes in the time it took the other three guys to unload one). Also, each individual box was pretty manageable so I was pretty much okay.

There are some good aspects -- if you don't want to work one day, don't show up. Also, you get paid right after the job if you want (check, or pay $1 for a voucher that can be redeemed for cash at a bank machine there -- I'm all about checks).

If you are looking for a wierd part time job in the St. Louis area, e-mail me.

The Fun Company and Adventure Fun will be hiring operators for Bungee Runs, Sumo, and Velcro Walls, among other things, shortly (the season doesn't really start until April).

We are looking for some good people this year, and that would be almost every Jatraquero I've ever met.

While the pay is good, its only for one or two days a week, more if your willing to travel around the country.

I love manual labor. What I hate is exercising for the first time after a long period of not-doing-so. Mostly because it makes me throw up, as I discovered this morning. Glad I shaved the beard ...

fugu, you're a fairly competent coder, right? How familiar are you with developing SharePoint Web Parts, if at all, and other VB/.Net applications? I've got some contracting stuff to hire for soon, and I'd love to outsource that to a Hatracker.
