I saw one of those stickers on a "dispenser of safety" saying the virus was the size of a quarter if the pores in latex were the size of a door. I see stuff like that and shrug. I guess everyone who's going to get it must already have it then. My mother in law read a book one time that claimed you could get it from hand contact (through unbroken skin) and I was just like "I guess we're all toast." Edit: I don't know if the pore meme is by people who want us to discriminate against homosexuals anyway (as this skin contact book seemed to be saying) or by folks who think condoms are less fun and so want an excuse to not use them.

Is Magic Johnson still around? The 10 years ago thread could include his diagnosis as HIV positive. More like 13 years ago.

Edit: On his website, Magicjohnson.org it says the span from infection to AIDS diagnosis is 10-12 years. [Dont Know]

Okay, major redirect here: I finally watched the whole thing (I didn't get past the embrace last night because I don't want my husband to get an even lower opinion of hatrack last night.) I thought this was for a cervical ring/hormone based contraception only thing. Since it is for condoms, I want to scratch my initial remark, since I toe the party line that condoms are fairly effective against HIV transmission. Sure, the pores are there, but they are blocked pretty quickly by larger particle making the excape of a virus less likely, though not impossible. Sheesh. Talk about looking ignorant and schizoid.
