I just posted this parody on the Dreamers of Dune Forum, and thought I might share. It is Dune specific, but I'd like to see other versions of this great Christmas poem. And yes, I didn't know where to go, so I just stopped in the middle...

quote:
Twas the night before Dunemas, and all through the sietch
Not a creature was stirring, save little m'uadib
The stillsuits were hung in the commons with care
In hopes that the seals would stand all the wear

The Fremen all nestled and snug in their beds
While visions of spice candy danced in their heads
Chani in her kerchief, and I with my ring
Had just bedded down, let's do this sleep thing

When out in the desert a thumper did sound,
I sprang from my bed, putting ear to the ground
Away to a cavemouth I flew like a wierding
So fast you could not see my face, it was bearding (well, you rhyme wierding!)

The moons on the breast of the clean desert sands
Gave a luster of midday all over the lands
When, what to my prescient dead eyes should appear
But a great Shai-hulud, and it was drawing near!

With a rider so lively, so scarred up, so tan
I knew in a moment, it was old Gurney-man!
More rapid than eagles, and a lot bigger too
Gurney man prodded the worm to heave to!

A shared pain is a pain lessened....
