Okay. About eight people told me this after I saw it on Hatrack the first time around. The person who did this must be feeling pretty pleased with himself/herself.

There's no one person. This practice is called "googlepacking," and it's been around for a while. Basically, a bunch of bloggers discovered over a year ago that it's possible to skew Google's search results -- especially on a relatively uncommon term -- if you get enough bloggers linking to a site via a link with that term in it. In some cases, you only need about ten or twenty websites to pull off a successful googlepack.

*cough* google bombing *cough*

Though I do congratulate you on coining a new term, albeit one for a practice that already has one. At least as far as google knows, you're the first to use it.

I would humbly submit that the term "googlepacking" is in all ways superior to "googlebombing." [Smile]
