Didn't want to hijack Bob's thread, and am genuinely curious.

And in case anyone wants to know the etymology of 'hijack', here it is:

quote:

Hijack:
It is believed that hijack comes from the command "High, Jack!", a slangy way of telling the person being robbed to raise his arms into the air. Hijack is an Americanism.

Interesting, no?

Saute chopped garlic and onions in butter. When the onions are translucent add canned chicken or tuna. Cook until the meat is hot through and browned a little on the outside.

Prepare the ramen noodles according to package directions. Drain off the broth and either save it, toss it, or drink it.

Dump the noodles on top of the other stuff in your frying pan, stir, and cook on med-high until they look dry.

Eat.

I personally find nothing wrong with plain ole Ramen noodles, but I found adding a stirred-up egg at the very end of the cooking makes a good Egg drop/breakfast soup.

"Chinese" Chicken Salad

Shred half a cabbage or buy cole slaw mix. Put it in a big bowl.
Cook a couple of chicken breasts, then cut them up into small pieces and put them in the bowl.
Break up a package of chicken flavor ramen noodles into the bowl.
Sprinkle the contents of the seasoning packet over it.
Add 1 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper, 2 Tablespoons sesame seeds, 1/4 cup sliced almonds, a few chopped green onions, 1/4 cup sugar or less to taste, 1/4 cup white vinegar or more to taste, 1/4 cup salad oil or less.
Toss well, refrigerate for at least a couple of hours, overnight is better. Two days is good...it just gets better with age.
I could live on this stuff. Well between this and chile beans and rice, I practically do.

Take Ramen noodles out of package. Break into slightly smaller pieces. Place in large glass measuring cup. Sprinkle contents of seasoning packet found within package onto noodles. Pour water over noodles until they are just covered (if you broke them up a lot, slightly higher). Microwave on high power for 3-5 minutes (depending on preferred firmness).
