Been hoping to meet some Hatrackers - anyone interested in applying for a free trip down under with only one minor catch...

i can't stand to watch the guy on tv, let alone see him face to face.

Yeah, but if you get on the show, you can come to Brisbane - that's got to be some sort of encouragment. Go on *cringes at cultural reference he's about to use* I'll throw another shrimp... *can't do it, sorry*

as much as i'd like to visit, if it involved the crocodile hunter, i would have to be bound and gagged.

throw another shrimp where? [Wink]

fair enough. He annoys the hell out of me too.

and its amazing the things we ozzies can do with shrimp.

One of my favorite people in the whole entire world lives in Brisbane. She did live here before, and directed a choir that I was in, but she's originally Australian, and moved back to Brisbane last year.

You don't by any chance know Debra (or, Deb) Shearer, do you?

I'm afraid not, but given that there's 1.8 Million people in Brisbane, and we've only lived here eight months or so, it's not that surprising. I'll keep an eye out, though, and if I ever come across her, won't hesitate to say 'hi' [Smile]

Steve Irwin - what an embarassment.

While he gets invited to lunch with G Dubya, the public is banned from attending his parliamentary address... And from protesting outside it.

It's a shame he didn't get to see some real Aussies rather than a fake real Aussie. [Wink]

I agree absolutely. But given the borderline fascist state of Australian politics at the moment we shouldn't be surprised.

However - did you see the Enough Rope interview with Irwin? I actually found it remarkably interesting. (And also a testament to Andrew Denton's interviewing ability.)

I don't watch TV so I kinda missed it.

It's worth a read. I'm not certain it changes my opinion of him, but certainly food for thought.

I still wouldn't be going on his reality TV show, though...

I know - doesn't bode well for Matrix 4: Back in Khaki , now, does it?
