Sweet jebus.

Saturday I went hiking.

I know, no big surprise. However, this hike wasn't exactly a hike. It was a full sprint up and down a mountain (I played a bit on the summit and took photos).

Needless to say, this was a part of an acute manic episode. As I was running up and down the mountain, my therapist left a message on my cell (and my answering machine, and paged me o_O) wanted to check on me because he'd seen me at my appointment the day before and had seen the signs of developing mania.

I called him back. (Hadn't wanted to.)

Resulting conversation.

"Where were you?"

"Ran up and down a mountain."

"You RAN up and down a mountain?"

"It was a LITTLE mountain." (It was.)

Him. "That's like an alcoholic saying 'It was just a LITTLE six pack.' "

A 45 minute argument ensued (I was quite irrational and adamant about not being hospitalized, he was quite rational and adamant about hospitalization. He won.)

Am back. Not manic. Quite stable. Meds upped. o_O

Photos are pretty good. [Wink]

I ran up a mountain once. For six seconds. In a game of tag.

Jeez mack, I'm glad you're back. [Smile]

Clearly I am incapable of comprehending mania.

Ouch, Mackillian! How'd you do that?

It was a love bite CT!

Mack, I'm glad you're okay, and I'm glad that you've got a good, dedicated doctor. That can make a huge difference.

It can. It's also strange when someone has a force of will that's stronger than your own. In a good way.

Mack, I can't run so much as a mile on flat ground. Of course, my respiratory problems have something to do with...oh, never mind. What's it like running up a mountain?

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

Strangely exhilarating. [Wink]

it was just 1.75 miles, hence my saying, "it was just a LITTLE mountain." But once of my friends who runs cross country explained that that particular distance on flat ground is considered nothing, but running UP, it's quite a feat.

Sweet jebus.

Am going on a long run today.

I've never been able to run long distances but I have had dreams wherein I can run and run and run for what seems like forever and never ever get a stitch in my side. It's glorious!
Sighs wistfully.

Glad you're okay, mack - [Smile]
