Kristine or Kathryn must have written this. It was both very cool, and hilarious! I can't wait to see OSC talking person now!

quote: OSC still has no idea what the Hebrew letters say, but they assured him that it was really funny.
I have no idea what they say either, but I was thinking there should be someone on hatrack who knows

I know. And it's really not all that funny.

Not telling us is just mean Rivka. Just like if I didn't tell you you had a big spider on your head, that would be mean.

I was waiting for someone to ask nicely.
Or just figure it out, since the Hebrew, with its English equivalent, shows up in an earlier pic.
C'mon, what do you expect the podium in a hotel ballroom to say?
Posted by Hobbes (Member # 433) on :
Ohh, I guess then it isn't that funny. Thanks Rivka!

See, the funny Hebrew is in the pic with the book covers.
I still haven't figured out what 'KiSeNoSa"D' means. And while "tzel" means shadow, it took me awhile to decode "hegemon" in Hebrew.

Of course, that's not as funny as posting after, before.
Or is that before, after?

Whoa--Eastern Standard Time is giving me a rush!

I didn't know OSC wrote the insults for Monkey Island...
that just proves...OSC is the coolest.
And I still don't know what the podium says. Is it taken from the book titles?

Is it "Cinemateque Tel Aviv" ?
Is Hebrew read from right to left like Arabic?

It says "Tel Aviv Cinematheque" (technically "Cinematheque Tel Aviv")
I have no idea how that is even vaugely funny.
Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :
Yes, ak, Hebrew is read right to left.
I dunno, GS, it got people here all worked up -- that's kinda funny.
Posted by GradStudent (Member # 5088) on :
Yeah, I think it's funny that they told him it was funny.
I think that 'KiSeNoSa"D' is Xenocide. That took me a while too.
Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Of course. Thanks, GS, that was bugging me!
Posted by sarcasticmuppet (Member # 5035) on :
not only is it read left to right, but also bottom to top. so a paragraph looks upside-down in it's alignment.
Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :
*blinks* Hebrew is not read bottom-to-top, muppet.
