I'm serious. I really want to know what some of you think. A lot of you have no idea who I am, but there are many here who have seen me post and have seen my behavior. Are any of you willing to give me an honest answer?

I'd be curious about other forum members too.

just when i thought i was starting to belong...

i most closely resemble the rottweiler puppy, or i could just be a troller in denial.

sorry, primal curve, i don't know enough about you to make an educated decision, but whatever judgment those who know you better may hand down, i am sure you'll be one of the good ones. [Big Grin]

This website was discussed awhile ago. Not trying to rain on your parade. There's plenty of material on this page and the previous thread barely scratched the surface.

Since I'm relatively new, I'm only beginning to get a feel for a few of the voices of various Hatrackers - wouldn't want to venture an opinion in your case, anyway.

FWIW, several people believed they were a combination of flame warrior personas, depending on time, context and forum. Do you think you have one style that dominates?

It's like they studied you, PC.

Interesting. In many cases, I have Hatrackers catagorized as one of these but it would be impolite to call them such in public.

I recall very well a knock-down-drag-out here that came about when someone engaged in Whisperer tactics, but I don't think the person who started it can merely be pigenholed as a Whisperer.

Some of the types listed are rarely found at Hatrack. They may visit occasionally, but the environment here just isn't the right scene for lowbrow types. To its credit, I think Hatrack has a high proportion of Eagle Scouts and Philosophers.

The list is interesting, but I think it really needs to be simplified or at least organized to be very coherent.

Haha, spanks, Nate.

I was actually under the assumption that I would fit into more than one category. I was curious as to which one I was.

I noticed parts of the "Dueler" in myself. I've had rows with THOR that some of you have seen, but I've had a floor-residing gauntlet blow-out with Leto as well.

I can also fluctuate between a "Propeller-head" and a "Eagle Scout" when it comes to newbies who are having technical difficulties. Admittedly, it depends upon the gender/age of the newbie. If she's hot and legal, I'm all for helpin'! [Wink]

Posted by fiazko (Member # 5812) on :

hot and legal, huh? i can pretend. [Big Grin]

Posted by Dragon (Member # 3670) on :

I would say you have some Artiste in you but only the first line of his description applies.

I can also see a bit of a duelist in you but not quite as violent as the description.

I definately see the eagle scout in you and most other Jatraqueros and also the philosopher

Why isn't there a fluff flame warrior? Can there be, and just put my picture by it?

The Fluff Flame warrior is a very useless flamer. He's that lovable guy every one teases like a younger brother, who tends to stay away from heated debates. But be warned, if provoked he will attack you with an array of laughable attempts to out-cool you, causing you to lose focus, and thus become prey to other warriors.

Fluff warrior, someone called?

It took me a while to find it, but I think Big Cat is a pretty accurate description of me.

Especially the purring bit.

Posted by Primal Curve (Member # 3587) on :

Ralphie, when I read that one, I couldn't help but think of you.

Well, the cat and of course, this one [Razz]

*blink*
Man, I've been called a LOT of those, but I don't think anyone's ever thought of me as an Ideologue. Compared to some of the real standard-bearers around here, I'd be hard-pressed to even come up with an ideology.

Primal---I don't know your posting habits well enough to say....which is a sure way to point that I am most likely---oh, hell, I am---a newbie. [Angst]

I wouldn't say I really use a magnigying glass. Well, except the one that comes with my OED. But at the root of things, the source of my . . .

"And Tom, do you really believe I think of David as an idealogue?"

Well, I don't think of David as an ideologue, but I don't think of MYSELF as an ideologue, either, and you DID preface it with "oddly enough," so I assumed you were saying that you felt it was an odd, not necessarily obvious, but otherwise correct pigeonhole. [Smile]

My magic 8 ball says Issues for Primal Curve. But that's what I say about everyone who might have disagreed with me at one time. [Monkeys]

Edit: say that reminds me, where is Hobbes' totem, the Smilies Avenger? And these guys think they are irreverent, but they left off La Leche Leach, the breastfeeding typist.

That picture even looks a little like you!

I certainly hope that Leto is the only one who sees me that way.

Sure he is, Hobbes. He produces cute little flames you can warm yourself with. [Smile]

Rabbit, don't worry. You have to remember how he classified HIMSELF and then you can see from what point of view that he's classifying you (and everyone else).

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

Rabbit - that's just Leto. Definitely not the standard. You probably got him in an argument.

Posted by Starla* (Member # 5835) on :

Damn, Leto---that even looks like your chair!

Posted by Tristan (Member # 1670) on :

Rabbit -- for what it's worth, your characterisation (and perhaps aka's) were the only ones where I could see no resemblance to reality whatsoever.

So...who am I? Or have I been here long enough for anyone to know?

Posted by TomDavidson (Member # 124) on :

This is the reason that I haven't publicly classified anybody on the forum. I have my own private list, which no one will ever see. [Wink]

Tom's definitely the tease.

I'm pretty sure Pat is right that Starla is a cedonym [Razz]

I was okay before, but now that you've posted your analysis and didn't include my personal analysis I'm hurt.

Hurt, I tell you!

*grin* Probably more often than merely this moment. I think it's because I just don't get riled up enough by threads to be more of a warrior. Except for about two posters I can think of (one of whom doesn't even Hatrack anymore), no one stirs my fighting blood.

I think, for sanity's sake, we should stick to identifying OURSELVES.

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

I don't know which one I am, though - which is as it should be. These are one-dimensional caricatures, and while they are very funny, none of the characterizations really fit any long-time posters, because people are not caricatures.

Posted by Maccabeus (Member # 3051) on :

I have been an Impostor fairly often, I believe. But not here.

Posted by Human (Member # 2985) on :

Well, there went all the fun out of this thread...and boy, do we know why! By the way, Leto, I'd pick one for you, but there isn't one that just fits. None of them are nasty enough.

Posted by Starla* (Member # 5835) on :

"I'm pretty sure Pat is right that Starla is a cedonym"

Kama---I think Pat was joking with that---he sent me a personal message on GreNME to ask who I was and I answered---then he posted the poll.

If I really was this person who has caused Leto so much trouble, I think he would have tailed me when I joined the forum back in August, figured out who I was quickly enough and exposed and booted me from the forum quicker than you can say "cedonym."

Secondly, Leto would not have explained to me who Ced was on that thread if he thought I was Ced.

If anyone wants to back me up here, I would greatly appreciate it.

Talk about running gags. *lies down in cubicle*

The above post was MORE convincing that Starla is a cedonym (TM Noemon) than anything at GreNME.

I'm sorry. I see I'm helping this get out of hand.

I know for a fact Starla is a sweet, sweet girl, and I'm sorry for the teasing.

Me = some of this, a lot of this, definitely some of this one, an occasional bit of this, and a healthy dose of this.

Perhaps a bit of this last one as well.

This could be a fun thread . . . I think the problem is that almost every description ends with some slam along the lines of ". . . and this is why everyone looks down on so-and-so," and so we feel insulted unless we feel absolutely certain of where we stand with the person posting the description.

So I like Tres's idea. I'll just post the tendencies I see in myself. That way I can imagine nobody really sees me that way, or that at least the pithy final slams don't apply.
