You must remember this,
A bris is still a bris,
A chai is just a chai.
Pastrami still belongs on rye,
As time goes by.

With holidays in view,
A Jew is still a Jew,
On that you can rely.
No matter if we eat tofu
As hours slip by.

Old shtetl customs, never out of date.
All those potatoes mother has to grate.
Honey, tsimus, latkes, chopped liver on our plate
The best that gelt can buy.

Some would send us to perdition,
But we're strengthened by tradition,
That no one can deny.
We roam, but we recall our birthright,
As time goes by.

Happy New Year!
May we all be inscribed in the Book of Life.

Happy New Year, rivka.

Love the song, by the way. [Smile]

rivka, I have only one response to that song:

CHORUS
Puff, the Kosher dragon, lived in Palestine
And frolicked in the synagogue
And drank Shapiro's wine
Little Rabbi Goldberg, loved that Kosher Puff
And fed him lox and matzah balls
And other Kosher stuff.

Then one day it happened
Puff was eating pork,
So little Rabbi Goldberg took that dragon for a walk,
Gently he explained kosher dragons don't eat meat
That comes from little piggies who have dirty little feet.

Now Puff became Bar Mitzvah, put on Tefillin every day
Wrapped in his Tallis, oh that's the way he prayed
Made Brochos before eating, and he bentched after every meal
Imagine how religious it made that dragon feel.

Now, there were some people, who did things just for spite
They'd curse Jews and attack them, just to get into a fight
When Puff the dragon heard this, He roared a mighty roar
Now, those wicked people aren't with us any more.

Now, Puff the Kosher Dragon found himself a bride
Now, little Kosher dragons are his source of joy and pride
They'll grow up doing Mitzvos, learning Torah and dovening, too
And Rabbi Goldberg teaching them, what Kosher dragons do.

Now, you who may be listening, may think we're making fun
But deep down in this story, there's a moral for everyone
If a dragon can wear a Kippa, keep Shabbos and Kosher, too
Then you can learn, like Puff did, how to be real good Jews.

(I hope the verses didn't offend anyone! They weren't supposed to! But the chorus is priceless...)

A joyous and sweet New Year to all!

I'm glad it was enjoyed, but the song's not mine -- it's one of those things that makes the rounds via email a couple times a year (I left out the Chanuka-specific verses).

And Raia, that was great! I know a much shorter, slightly different version -- I think I like yours better. [Big Grin]
