Okay, kat, I read Pastwatch. Not bad. [Smile]

...I didn't love it, because the narration was done a bit too broadly for me, but it was an interesting read. Let me know when you get through Tigana. [Smile]

Twinky, you finished it! [Smile]

I finished Tigana last weekend. I loved the parts with Doriana and Catriana, and my favorite dynamic was the intensely conflicted relationship between the concubine/vigilante and her captor/sweetheart. The middle third seemed slower, and new characters kept being introduced almost towards the end. The characters were fine, but wanted more of the characters I already knew.

No one seemed to like themselves very much, which I thought was an excellent point.

I LOVED the ending - that was perfect, and it broke my heart.

Hmm... must organize thoughts.

Sorry Pastwatch didn't float your boat as much as mine - wasn't Columbus fabulous, though? [Smile]

Twinky, I'm having a hard time getting into Tigana. Help me here.

Yes, Columbus was something... though Hunaphu was my favourite. [Big Grin] I'll post some collected thoughts about Pastwatch to this thread at some point, possibly later today.

I'm glad you liked Tigana. The ending was what really did it for me, though I'm definitely a fan of Kay's work in general. And he's Canadian! [Smile]

ludosti, how far into Tigana are you? It's certainly a substantial tome that will take some getting through, but even if you aren't so big on the rest I do think that the ending is worth the effort.

I'm not very far into it. I've been slogging through the beginning of it and Game of Thrones and I'm trying to decide if I should keep going with them or not. I probably will, since I think the only book I ever started and didn't finish is Catch22.

It should be worth your while. It was very much worth mine. [Smile]

I guess I will have to return to it then. [Smile]
