Earlier today I was in a bookstore. This store's Science Fiction section is generally in some sort of disarray or another, and so today I took the opportunity to make it look nice.

As I did so, I kept thinking about OSC, and Ender's Game. Ever since I read Ender's Shadow, that is how I have thought of the story. But I was remembering Game, and all of the things about it that simply blew my mind.

I remembered having a box of copies of it, giving them out freely until I realized I needed to buy a new copy for myself.

And now I am hungry to recommend it to so many more people.

It makes me happy.

Wow. A box of copies. That's cool.

Yeah, I lucked into that one. I certainly never could have afforded such a thing. Oh, but one day I will.

And it will probably have a few copies of The Unbearable Lightness of Being and some of everything by Gene Wolfe in it, too.

Just because.

The Unbearable Lightness of Being... hmmm. I hardly remember the actual plot or characters of that book. I read it at a time when I was breaking down emotionally. I felt so raw and hurt by things that seem trivial now. Somehow that book made sense to me. It gave me some kind of focus during a time when I may have hurt myself... I was certainly thinking of doing so. Maybe I'll reread it to gain some clarity on that time someday. For now, I can't really bring myself to do it. I do smile, though, when I think of the book.

Wow, 2! Today is supposedly "Set a Book Free Day", where somebody or other is trying to get us to leave a book somewhere where it can get picked up and read by someone else. You are set!

(I am planning, irrationally, considering my financial position, to set a new copy of The Wild Shore free. I can't bear to part with my first edition paperback!)
