Well I posted this over at Ornery, where I thought it would be more appropriate and likely to generate discussion and apparently people think slower over there because I haven't gotten any responses yet. So I cut and paste it in its entirety for Hatrack since you guys type faster!

Hi Ornery,

I've been over at Hatrack for a while. I've lurked a bit over here at times and the issues I would like to bring up now seem more appropriate to this forum. If I'm being redundant in my topics please direct me to the correct thread, since I don't know my way around Ornery terribly well yet.

I haven't seen reaction from either forum today on Abbas resigning and Arafat attempting to appoint a "puppet" in his place. Does this turn of events end the roadmap, or alter Israel's current strategy in any way?
A particular bloodthirsty part of me wants the Israelis to kill Arafat, and see what happens afterwards. Is it a question of kill the head and the rest of the beast will fall apart, or will 10 new heads sprout, like in Greek mythology? I keep mulling this over and haven't made up my mind.

Re: Iraq
Maybe having all of the terrorists in the world apparently attracted to Iraq is a good thing. Yes, we will sustain some military casualties, but it is a high visibility target that keeps the terrorists focused there rather than New York abd may actually limit our causualties on our own soil. Do you think the powers that be could have actually forseen this in any of the secenarios they considered, when Iraq didn't become an instant beacon of democracy?

You pasted it in the slow forum at Ornery, the equivalent of the "About OSC" section here. [Smile]

Funny, I had similar thoughts this morning.

Maybe it's the media. Good thoughts BannaOJ.
