I got out of school at 10:40 today, so I hopped on the bus to Georgetown. (On a side note, I was talking to a friend on the phone, had asked her if she heard my band's music yet, and the guy next to me gave me his card before he got off and asked me to send him the website with the music. It turns out he's the Bureau Chief of a local Radio News.)

Anyway, so I walked down to G-town and went to the Tattoo place. I got a sword with some flame around it. All black and grey with some tiny amount of white. I plan to go back later and get some red glow around the flame.

Questions!!

1. How much was it?

2. How much did it hurt?

3. How does it look?

4. How much is it bleeding...?

5. How can you convince me to do this...?

I used to want a tattoo soooooo bad before I thought I might have kids.
Glad I didn't get one, I gained so much weight while I was pregnant it would have looked like a blob! I always wanted two cherries on one stem, that was my dream tattoo.

(Taking it upon herself to answer questions)

When I got my tattoo this past June (pictures coming), the fine lines stung badly, but when the artist filled in the color, it only felt like something was vibrating on my back.

My tat was pricey, though. I had the artist do it from a book, and all in color. My fiancee payed 250 for my body art.

I bled like a stuffed pig. Then again, I do just about any time that something pierces my skin. That stopped about a day later.

There is nothing I can say that can convince you one way or another to get a tattoo, Ryuko. All I can say is that if you do, make sure that it is something that will still be meaningful to you in the future.

Calvin-congradulations! Sounds like it went smoothly! Welcome to the 'Inked Hatrackers Club'. This is not a Club for Hatrackers with pens, but who have had pens in them (he he he).

Calvin, out of interest, your tattoos seem random as all hell. Isn't one of them a purple unicorn? Do you have any significance behind your choices, or just dig the pictures since they look pretty?

Sounds awesome. I'm going to be getting some ink done, also, when I save up some cash...

Kiii... I guess I've already decided to get one. Either the stylized rose inside this ring (not the picture of the ring) Here.

Or this rose, minus the spinning. Here.

No matter which one, it's gonna be green. (nods) And about the size of a half-dollar, on my right shoulder, above the blade. (in that soft part, ya know?)

I'm getting 'weightlessendlessfaithless' in a band on my wrist... angel wings, full length on my back.... and lots of other things....those two are my favorites, though...

as for those rose pics you linked, Ryuko, very nice... there's a good one here, and should be on the first page... I'm also getting a 'Nephilim Bat', which can be found on one of the pages on the site I linked...

I love tattoos on other people, (this doesn't mean you, Saudade or Jaiden [Smile] ) but I don't think I'll ever get one myself. The reason? I remember what I thought looked really cool in the 60s, and also in the 70s, and in the 80s, and the 90s, and it seems to go like this. Stuff one decade old is incredibly cheesy and stupid looking now. Sometime in the second decade it starts to look hip-retro, and may again be fairly cool 'til partway through the 3rd decade when it's again cheesy and stupid looking. Had I made any permanent changes to my body during any of these prior decades, I would have spent at least twice as much time by now regretting them as I did liking them.

That and tattoos look terrible on old people's skin. Tattoos have never been in style with respectable people until recently. I really wonder what it's going to be like in a few decades when so many old people will be sporting cheesy tattoos from other decades. Will they all be scarred from removing them? Or will it just brand a person as old, in a slightly risible way?

None of that stops me from seeing people's tattoos now and thinking they are quite nice, lots of them, and vaguely wishing I could get one too. [Smile]

My problem is twofold with tattoos, although like ak, I always admire them on other people.

1. I'd like to get it someplace "private" and sexy, but would not like to show that part to a tattoo artist.

2. When pregnant, those areas are most likely to stretch making the tattoo yucky.

I've been considering just going with something on my ankle, but if you've seen the size of my ankles, you'd know how little flesh there is there. They'd be tattooing bone! [Smile]

Ankle ones hurt, from what I've been told. The more muscle/fat between the tattoo and the bone, the better.

BelladonnaOrchid and CalvinMaker, do we get to see pictures? Pretty please?

Henna is fun because it isn't permanent.

edit: This is actually Calvinmaker's third tatoo, I think. He has pics of the other two.

I'd not get one because, well....it's terribly permanent. What if you change your mind? Second, I keep thinking of when I eventually get old and wrinkled, and it just looks very strange.

Otherwise, I'd get some sort of a dragon.

Moose has always been 1) Funny and 2) Incredibly naughty.

Where've you guys been? [Razz]

I'm just glad Moose was here to say it first, otherwise I'd be the one getting all the looks and credit and respect and glory....

Wait a sec...

I hate it when pregnancy messes with my tattoos.

Young=Cherry
Pregnancy=Watermelon
Old Age=Chile

Primal: Yeah, men have to worry about beer guts, etc.

Cal: LOL!

I plan on getting mine in a place that doesn't stretch too much, and/or is easily covered up.
