I typically tire of being labeled, especially by academia that feels compelled to label just about everything. But I have noticed that just about everyone labels everything else, and I was thinking that we need more labels concerning religion or beliefs. Here are some standard ones:

WASP (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant)
LDS (The Church of Latter Day Saints)
MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers)

But I decided to come up with a few of my own. They are meant to be humorous and not meant to poke fun at any religion or set of beliefs, and feel free to add to the list:

CDCs (Catholics who Dislike other Catholics)

CNBCs (Catholics who Never use Birth Control)

MDLs (Methodists who Dislike Lutherans)

HDLs (Homeschoolers who Dislike Lutherans)

LDLs (Lutherans who Dislike other Lutherans)

ABCs (Agnostics who Believe in Christ)

CD-ROM (Catholic Doctrine that is Remembered Only during Mass)

AC-DCs (Agnostics who were Catholic and Dislike other Catholics)

Any more ideas?

Actually,

Being in healthcare, I was struggling to find something to fit within the anagrams of HDLs, LDLs, etc which are usually meant to mean types of cholesterol.

But honestly, I LIKE Lutherans, and if you were unsure, I was raised Catholic. Hence, the plethora of Catholic jokes!

You forgot:

NLWDGAWGL - Norwegian Lutherans who don’t get along with German Lutherans

and

GLWDGAWNL – German Lutherans who don’t get along with Norwegian Lutherans

Sorry, Lutherans, but I’ve been in towns where getting those two groups to work together counts as interfaith dialogue.

Hey, dkw! You forgot the Swedish Lutherans! Don't leave out my entire city! [No No] [Wink]

It was quite the joke when my old, Swedish congregation got a Norwegian pastor! I'm not sure if there was any genuine discomfort, but there was plenty of teasing and joking about the whole situation.

Silly Scandinavians.

For the record, not just "academia" likes to label things, HUMAN BEINGS do it all the time.

Sorry Vána, I don't know much about them because we don't have any Swedes around here. We've got one Danish guy, but he's a Presbyterian.
[Dont Know]

Yeah...that's because when all the Swedes were coming to the US, the train stopped in Rockford. Like, stopped stopped. End of the line.

For some reason, my husband finds this exceptionally funny. But it's just the simple truth! [Dont Know]

Excellent counter!

For some reason this sentence completely cracks me up. I've got to find a way to introduce it into daily conversation.

OLYMPIAs (Orthodox Lithuianian Youth Ministers who are a Pain in the Ass)

I just couldn't bring myself to direct my "L"s at the Lutherans anymore...
